A Dynamic Discussion and Piano Performance by World Renowned Musician and Psychiatrist Richard Kogan, MD

Harvard educated psychiatrist and Julliard trained concert pianist Dr. Richard Kogan will give a lecture/concert on the great American composer Scott Joplin (1867-1917). Dr. Kogan will explore the impact of psychological and socio-cultural factors as well as physical illness on the creative output of the composer.

The discussion will be illuminated by performances of Joplin masterpieces such as
the final musical number from “Treemonisha” as well as the classic rag “The Entertainer” (made famous in the 1973 movie “The Sting”).
