Luxury Living at the Beresford, Exclusive Co-op Just North of the Museum of Natural History

Central Park West boasts a number of large luxury apartment buildings designed by the noted Emery Roth, two of which we will show on Midtownblogger--

This is the Beresford, just North of the Museum of Natural History, the largest of the Roth buildings and one of the most exclusive addresses on Central Park West of course.

Luckily for you, there are several apartments for sale there now, and if you have the money and IF you can gain approval of the building's Board, one of these classy places can be yours...in this case for only $11,300,000...--WHOOPS, it was just sold, (well , some months ago but the listing remains on the net)...

With 9 rooms, four bedrooms and four baths, it is still not as large as some of the other apartments I have noted in the past in some of these luxury buildings and not as expensive as a similar place would be on Fifth Avenue across the Park...

The living room is not as spectacular as some I have seen, but it is certainly nice enough...

The cheerful dining room could handle a larger table I suppose...

The views, of course, such as this one to the South over Central Park, are indeed charming

One of the four bedrooms...decent, as you can see...

The Gallery is of course very nice..(large sized photo not available) and we expect the four bathrooms are in decent shape...unless, of course, the prior owners were oblivious to what they looked like...which we doubt.

Herman Wouk wrote a classic novel, "Marjorie Morningstar," about a young fairly well off Jewish girl whose family lives in a big rambling apartment like this one ( but probably even more opulent)--she goes horseback riding in Central Park, and then transfers her love of horses to men, who generally disappoint, as do her theatrical chances which she also for a while pursues..

You can see this and other listings on the net...for one on a higher floor--OOps! that is also sold, go to

Of course, as we said, the Board has to approve the sale which means they will want to know about the company or companies you own and your investment portfolio ( Laurance Rockefeller's building on Fifth Avenue had the rule, maybe still enforced, that you had to pay cash for the apartment, no mortgage, and it could  not be more than ten per cent of your net worth as determined by the board).

Well, as I said, there is still the San Remo and the El Dorado and other buildings which might please you but this will have to conclude our space-hunting venture for a while.
