Oh yes, the huge lobby and all the furnishings of this place are great in terms of decor and ambiance...I do not eat popcorn anymore after I broke a tooth doing so last year, ( it is too easy not too realize when you are biting down on a rock hard kernel in a movie theater).
I HAVE found this place extremely good about giving me a free pass for another show sometime when I told them I wanted my money back ( "The Green Hornet" was so bad I left after 15 minutes..it stopped me from my old policy of not reading reviews basically because I wanted to see movies with an "open mind." NOW I want to have some idea of what I am in for.
I could not resist stopping the endless reviews with one sour apple one, because he admits his judgment is based on "one bad experience."

The AMC's Loews Kips Bay 15 is my favorite spot to watch movies. The only other theater that I might go to is the IMAX by Lincoln Center, but it's a bit out of the way for us Lower East Siders.
With plenty of screens, you can easily find all of the latest releases, sometimes in IMAX and 3D. The service can be hit or miss. Sometimes, if I go to an early matinee screening (before noon) they will not have "hot" food available at the upper or lower theater areas and who can watch a movie with hot dogs or popcorn?!?! There are plenty of ticket kiosks at this location, which makes picking up tickets fairly painless. The ticket clerks are also very accommodating and allowed me to change my online ticket to an earlier showing with little pushback.
So, if you're looking to beat the summer heat while catching the latest blockbuster I recommend the AMC Loews Kips Bay 15! -

My favorite movie theater in the city! Hands down. It's clean, it gets a great crowd and it's never overly crowdy. When you want to go out for a movie night, this place makes you feel like you're going to one of the places you went to when you were a kid.
If you have to see a movie, despite the outrageous prices that they are now a days, see it here! -

I came here for the Iron Man 3 marathon. It was my first time here, and won't be my last. Not too far of a walk from the PATH exit. Good clean theater. Friendly staff. The theater room looked great and was comfortable. This theater is worth coming to if they have the movie you're looking to see.
The only negative I had was that the tenders/fries combo was $18 *shivers*, but I got a free refill on the soda being that I'm a AMC card member (first time using my refill benefits) -

My 2nd choice for watching movies behind the Lincoln Center Loews. It's another theatre which is a bit out of the way and a few blocks from the closest train station. Rarely have I ever had an incident of noise during a movie here. There's plenty of screens and showtimes here. As for the IMAX, don't come here if you're looking to see that type of movie. The only theatre in NYC, which truly has a REAL IMAX screen is the one at Lincoln Center. This IMAX is just a wider version of the regular theatre screens. -

This has always been one of my favorite theaters. Super clean and it's never crowded. No matter when I go. And they sell food. Real food. Awesome! The movie I saw, not so much. But that wasn't the theaters fault. lol
Can't wait to go back! -

Its an alright theatre, same as all the other AMC theaters across NYC. Not so well maintained and the staff aren't all that great. But as long as they show the right movies I'm happy. -

Close to home. Good snack options. Imax available here. The only complaint I have is that I always have issues at this location with my AMC card & credits for rewards. It's not done properly. -

This is my 2nd fav theatre. It's clean, organized, and is never over crowded. The IMAX prices are ridiculous but that's with every other theatre as well.... There are plenty of screens with multiple showings of the same movie (depending on popularity). Friendly staff.. check it out. -

I liked this movie theater. Big, spacious and clean. The theaters are stadium seating so I did not have a problem with a big-headed man in my way.
Consessions were fast. My only negative was that the bathrooms were all the way downstairs. Kind of annoying. -

Big, large and plenty of room. Its clean and while it gets crowded it doesn't feel that way.
Nicest place to catch a movie in the city! -

The other reviews about this place were spot on. If you're going to be at a movie theater in Manhattan & don't care about fancy decor, this is probably the best one since it's not crowded, they did have one flavor of slushie at the concession stand when we went to an 8:50 p.m. screening of "Django Unchained," and they clean up after screenings.
It was fairly clean, staff was friendly and save the lack of toilet paper in a stall I used after the film, it was fine. I don't like that you can't move the arms on the chairs but that might be helpful if you're on a blind date with someone you don't like & don't want being near you. That's also small potatoes compared to other theater experiences I've had. We didn't even have to deal with talkers, texters and rudeness from patrons during the movie.
I also like that they have discounted matinee tickets and aren't a mess of people like other theaters in NYC. Should we go to an AMC theater again, this one is definitely on our list. -

There aren't many cinemas around midtown east so this location is the one to go if you live around here! Well maintained and the staff are nice. -

Well, if you want your concession stand employee to stare blankly at a customer who is asking for assistance, then walk away, ignoring him, then congratulations, mission accomplished.
I was there last night to watch an 8 PM showing of Oz and I went to the concession stand. When I walked up with a smile, mind you, the guy stared at me, walked away, and started doing something else. I didn't order anything because nothing could wash away the taste of the horrible customer service. Sorry to bug you, James.
The rest of the staff were pretty good, though. But one very bad experience can overshadow all the good service.
