Love Governors Island? Need groceries?
Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 2, you can support us while you shop!
To celebrate its 5% Community Giving Day on November 2, Whole Foods is joining forces with the Friends of Governors Island and three other NYC park groups. The four parks will share 5% of the day's collective net sales from all 10 stores in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Governors Island's share of funding will be used to support the “Green Zone,” an important step toward the Island’s goal of creating a closed-loop organic cycle -- where all waste generated on the Island is converted to replenish its landscapes. The Green Zone will unite existing Island sustainability initiatives, including urban farming and composting, by creating an outdoor back-of-house horticulture facility. The zone will also serve as an educational resource for the general public and a hub for volunteer activities.

While every Whole Foods in NYC is participating, Governors Island staff will be greeting shoppers at the Bowery and Union Square stores from 11am-9pm, so stop by and say hi. 15 lucky shoppers will win a free Governors Island tote bag!
