Calling all New Yorkers and visitors to our great city – FDNY members from the FDNY 2017 Calendar of Heroes will be at the Herald Square Pedestrian Plaza on FRIDAY APRIL 15 from 11 am – 2 pm, signing purchased copies of the calendar! The Calendar of Heroes is the ONLY official calendar of the FDNY, and this year’s calendar is two calendars in one, with 12 months featuring the men of the FDNY and 12 months featuring the women of the FDNY. In addition, FDNY EMTs and Paramedics are included among the calendar models for the very first time. We hope to see you there! The vehicles featured in today’s ‪#‎FDNYfleet‬ post are an Emergency Crew Vehicle, a Tactical Support Unit and a Fuel Truck. The Emergency Crew Vehicles respond to firehouses and EMS stations, as well as fire scenes, to repair Department vehicles in the field. They carry a large inventory of parts and equipment to utilize when making repairs. The FDNY’s Tactical Support Unit contains many large storage compartments, which hold specialized tools and equipment not usually carried by other fire units, such as: chainsaws for underwater use, powerful electric generators, an inflatable boat and a telescoping light tower. The Fuel Truck is designed to deliver diesel fuel in the event of an emergency, such as a natural disaster.

On Saturday, April 9, the 43rd Annual FDNY vs NYPD Charity Hockey Game was played at Madison Square Garden. Prior to puck drop, the FDNY Hockey Team donated a van to the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation, and proceeds from the event benefitted the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation and the New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund. Despite a valiant comeback performance in the third period, the NYPD earned bragging rights this year, winning the game with a final score of 6-5.
