This is what the brother and sisterhood is all about. Job well done to all involved.

Sometimes the voice of reason steps in just before a dumb mistake, other times it waits — here are two tales of both:
There has to be somebody there to put the brakes on things when we exceed the boundaries of good sense.

Tracy Wells Here's another angle of this. Yes, it does make for a great activity station during fire prevention events. I like that it goes a long way in reducing intimidation factor when it comes to using an extinguisher. Hope 2016 is a great & safe one for you all.

About 40 firefighters responded to a two-story home. Flames started in the basement, where there was extensive fire, smoke and water damage.
It was unclear how many people lived in the home or how the fire started.

Was this decision about denying the firefighters something because it is bad for the department or because it is something firefighters want?
Not allowing firefighters to buy commemorative badges is a fight not worth having and distracts focus from event preparation.

Rick Ramos I agree with the article, that the NFL should have given the bandages to the first responders. After all the millions of dollars that the NFL makes during the season not to mention how much more they make on advertisement. Not only is the Chief being unreasonable, but the NFL is sticking it to the first responders. Wonder what the profit is from selling the badages..

Officials called it a "tough day" having to explain the situation, but said the candidates were professional and took the news graciously.
A review of city hiring practices led to the conclusion that the hiring process violated the municipal merit system.

Jack Patterson It's becoming increasingly difficult to find good candidates. If cities keep treating candidates this way no one will reapply. It's truly sad that a city government is run so poorly. Whomever made the error should be removed from their job.

They claim there's still racism within the department and that it won't change unless Commissioner Jose Santiago leaves.
The firefighters and paramedics said they’re not asking for a handout but just for equality.

Paul J Mcintyre seems to me, if that banner is up, that there is racism going on!! just not what you would think. I know if I saw a banner that read Irish American Firefighters leaugue, and had two white skined guys holding it, it would be deemed racist and probably fired or prosecuted by the law. Those kinds of groups tear depts. apart, and create a haven for slackers.
