The importance of clearing fire hydrants was made evident this morning, as FDNY members arrived on scene of a fire on 9th Ave in Manhattan to find the hydrants covered in snow. Critical seconds were lost as the hydrants were cleared, and the fire escalated to a 4th alarm. Thankfully, there are no injuries to report. New York City homeowners and business owners - any delay in fire companies locating hydrants and getting water on a fire endangers the lives of both Firefighters and civilians. Shovel a path today, and on every snowy day. Help the FDNY respond when seconds matter.
