Kenn's Broome Street Restaurant

When I was walking around inspecting the changes in SoHo, this place seemed to ring a bell of having been here, many, many years ago...

The scene has changed, of course, but I suspect this is still just another "neighborhood fixture" kind of place, with , who knows, people playing darts or something.

This is the last review for a while even though there are a ton of places I am still interested in, in Soho and the West Village...time to move on to the Upper West Side..

Anyway, this from Yelp --oh, one funny note here, I can see one (typically American) woman complains that the burgers "aren't big enough." She is another one of  our countrywomen who probably has something of a weight problem, I would bet...LOL

Pre bachelorette party, we were walking around looking for a brunch spot.  We first tried a French bistro around the corner from Broome Street, who had a sign that said they only take American Express.  Seriously?  That's a strange rule - and the place was not Neiman Marcus as far as I could tell, which is the only place where maybe, just maybe, it's okay to only take American Express.

We stumbled upon Broome Street, and took a chance.  The food was GOOD.  It was quiet, so our server was very attentive.  The $3 refill for iced tea was a bit steep, but the food was reasonably priced.  I had the powerhouse pita, with sprouts, watercress, tomato, cheese, and turkey.  It was very delicious, and I chose the salad for my side, which was fresh and had a very good home made Italian dressing.  All of the girls loved their lunches, too, especially the Mediterranean salad with side of chips.

Chalkboards listed more beers than I have ever heard of - on the list for a nice spot to go back to for a few drinks!

This place had a really nice vibe and we loved the location... We sat close to an open window on a hot spring day, so it was very lovely..But we think it would have been better going here for drinks, rather then dinner.

My boyfriend and I just got a simple meal of cheeseburgers with some drinks. Drinks were great and priced right. However the burger meal was a bit disappointing. The burger did not come with fries, it came with chips or a salad, which was okay with us I wanted a salad and my boyfriend wanted chips.

The dishes came out and my salad was sooooo tiny. Seriously it was pathetic. My boyfriend had a good amount of chips so he was happy with the sides.

Out burgers were both cooked the way we wanted them. They were juicy and tender. However they were rather small. The worst part was the patty was not in a regular burger bun, it was put in a very thin pita that had next to no bread with it. It tasted like we were just eating the burger patty. We both were not crazy about that. The burger would have been so much better with a bun.

We both left hungry. We will not come back from food but we really like the atmosphere so we are gonna come back for drinks sometime!

Stopped here for an early dinner and a few beers, great atmosphere and the food surpassed all our expectations!

If you are walking around the area looking for a place to grab a quick drink or meal, this spot is a good one to check out!

Its a good spot for beers and food.  The food has an interesting spin - specifically the burgers in a pita.  I like the idea but with the juicy burger the pita is falling apart after a few minutes so eat fast.  I'd prefer a bun because the burger itself was juicy!  Oh and 'chips' is actually chips - not the 'fancy word for french fries' which would have been the forth star on my rating (if it was available)

I always feel like there is a lack of good bars and restaurants in SoHo. After I have worked up an appetite trying on clothes on Broadway, where am I supposed to go? My friend and I headed to Broome Street Bar, which was definitely a good idea. It was not overly crowded, annoying, expensive, or dirty-divey. Just an average bar.

However, the food there is not your average bar food. It's not a burgers and wings type of place. They specialize in sandwiches on rye, pumpernickel, and burgers on pita. I tried the daily special of turkey, cheddar, avocado, and chipotle mayo on pumpernickel. It was especially good because it was heated, and all the ingredients were fresh. Overall, a nice change from greasy bar food, and my new SoHo post-shopping spot.

I enjoyed some libations at this dope spot tonight, after SoHo clothes shopping nonsense.  NONSENSE.

The bartender was chill and quick with the drinks, which weren't expensive.  There is a wide array of beers on tap to choose from, for you beer snobs.  The food menu isn't extensive but the burger was juicy and the grilled cheese with tomato and bacon was savory.

The bar decor reminds me of pubs/taverns in London/Dublin.  Its not too divey and not too high-end.  Its comfortable yet stylish, nawhati'msayin?  I can't believe its been a staple here in SoHo with all the pontificating pretentious fashionistas/artists that saturate this area.

I'll be back for sure...I like clothes shopping and then drinking nonsense.
