STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Victory Boulevard is home to some of the Island's hottest bars, so it's no wonder you'll always find a good time there -- even on Sunday nights.
The Advance visited three bars along the strip to get the scoop on these North Shore spots.
CASTLETON CORNERS PUBCastleton Corners
Otherwise known as 'CCP,' the 1815 Victory Blvd. bar sports a slogan that encapsulates their entire atmosphere in only eight words: "Where neighbors become friends and friends become family," as told by owner Michael Nebel.
Nobel has even crowned the first day of the week "Sunday Funday" at his bar, offering patrons a place to get that last bit of enjoyment in before the dreaded Monday morning.
"It's always good on Sunday Fundays," said Nebel. "Especially in a family-oriented bar."
But Nebel wasn't the only fan of Funday.
"This is the only place to be on Sunday night," said Frank, 26, of Westerleigh. "You can come for a drink, you can come for the game, but ya gotta come."
Bartender Gerard, who's been an employee at the establishment for three years says, "It's all about good friends and good times, I love my job because I love seeing people happy."
THE BEER GARDEN
Castleton Corners
Just a few staggered steps from 'CCP,'  The Beer Garden sports bar & grill has 11 flat screen TVs for any sporting event and features everything from wings, burgers, sandwiches, wraps and pizza to pasta, entrees & daily specials.
And with more than 20 beers on tap, it shouldn't come as a surprise that even on a Sunday, the place is lined with bar-goers.
From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Sundays, the 1883 Victory Blvd. hotspot hosts karaoke for it's guests. Whether you're a newcomer, longtime patron, employee or apparently a newspaper reporter, you're welcome (encouraged) to take the mic and join in on the fun.
"Great drinks, great karaoke and great people," said one patron. "It's the place to be."
But beyond the drunken renditions of the '80's and '90's top hits, bar-goer's flock to the sports bar for longtime bartender Joe.
"We come here because it's cozy," said Ashley, 28, of Grant City. "And Joe, we love Joe."
Ashley, accompanied by friend Paul, 39, also of Grant City, says they've been coming to the hotspot for more than 10 years.
Famed bartender Joe says he's been an employee for 13 years stating, "It's a great neighborhood bar, a place you can have fun and be yourself."
LEGENDS PUB
Meiers Corners
And just a baseball throw away from The Beer Garden, lies Legends Pub.
Near a quieter part of the strip, Legends can at times be anything but quiet.
Located at 1975 Victory Blvd., the pub features a Sunday night live DJ and karaoke, as well as around the clock pool tables, dart boards and of course, TVs.
"I could sit home and watch hockey," said longtime patron Jim Heinz, of Westerleigh. "But I'd rather be here, it's so much better."
Friend and also patron, Patti Casale, of Westerleigh, added: "You can always come here for a good time, it's convenient and it's happening."
Dan Low, 21, was throwing darts Sunday night when we caught up with him, stating, "I'll tell you why I come to Legends: There's never any problems, the bartenders are always so nice, it's the best bar on Victory Boulevard."
"No doubt about it," he added.
"Whether you're related or just friends, Legends make people feel like family," said longtime bartender Alex Meaders, of Mariner's Harbor.
"And it's bar centered around making people comfortable," added bartender and longtime friend of Meaders, Jennifer Dougherty, of Dongan Hills.
