"David Bowery": Bowery Unofficially Renamed For David Bowie
New Yorkers have paid tribute to David Bowie in the weeks since his death with flowers outside his apartment building and murals on the Lower East Side. But following this weekend's blizzard, The L.I.S.A. Project had the bright idea to take things one step further and give Bowie his own major thoroughfare.

The Bowery sign at the corner of Bowery and Houston was unofficially rechristened "David Bowery" sometime Saturday evening. As of Sunday afternoon it was still up, so check it out while you still can. After it gets taken down, perhaps a certain Bowie-honoring politician can propose an official name, like Lazarus Lane, Starman Street, Ashes to Ashes Avenue, Moonage Daydream Drive, or even Sound and Vision Place.
