Last night an inch of rain fell on Dublin and there were incidents of spot flooding although minor compared to the hardship suffered in other parts of the country. Our Swords fire engine managed to prevent 3 houses in Drynam from flooding through a combination of pumping and diverting the excess water into 2 manholes. After 2 hours the incident was closed although the manholes were monitored throughout the night.
Congratulations to our first class of recently promoted District Officers.
The 15 undertook a course in our training centre covering a range of different subjects including the fire services act, fire prevention, command and control, media management and HR. This will supplement their many years of experience as Station Officers.
We wish you well in your new positions.
Tallaght crews responded to reports of a roof collapse in the Clondalkin area this afternoon.
On arrival they found that a section of roof on a five story apartment block had been blown off as a result of #StormFrank.
Luckily the apartment in question was unoccupied. There were no injuries from the falling roof.
