Randy Franklin I took this job to help others. I knew the risk then as I know it now. Our God only takes us when he is ready. If that time is while I'm on duty trying to help my fellow man then that will be my time and I hope I make my family proud. I never thought I would see the day we would need a flack vest but yet we carry them behind our seat. God be with all brothers and sisters on the job.

Cheryl Biechler I just read everyone's responses, which is why I'm still on this site. I am "the public". I joined this site to follow progress of a hs classmate, Capt Dern; but I've stayed out of deepening appreciation for all firefighters. I'm learning a lot here and have grown thankful as I've read about "what it's like" for you all. Thank you for your sacrificial work!!!!!
Karen Carmichael I offended a few fire brothers and sisters on this post, so I would like to reward what I said previously so this won't offend anyone of my fire families. At the former department I was at women got used for sex in the fire department, got rumors and ...See More

Jon Olsen Good article -
but seems to be extreme-most people I know are in middle or less-and we were all ghetto Fire Department paramedics doing 600 runs a month-
Dennis Jackson Very good article! Every brother and sister firefighter needs to read. Then look around your firehouse and see if someone is struggling. If so get them help! Tell your chief so they get help before it's to late.

It is with much sadness and regret to inform you that members of the Fremont County Fire Protection District in Wyoming are mourning the deep loss of much loved and respected Deputy Chief Clarence “Speed” Hartbank.
The 45-year member of the department passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the afternoon after finally succumbing to the injuries he sustained when was commanding a September 10, 2015 grass fire.

Shiloh Powell Thank you for sharing, Brother. I am so proud of Clinton Powell and all of the CPS technicians at The Anchorage Fire Department!
Ashli Nicole Anderson Glad to hear! What's sad is how far and few 'certified' car seat technicians there are in the public safety system; EMS/FIRE/POLICE. We owe it to the citizens, too often I hear "well we had so n so install it and he's a FF so 'he knows' how to" -Rant over 😎
