A United Call To Take Care of Our 9/11 Heroes
We lost 23 officers that day, and nearly five times as many since. It's "nearly” because the numbers change, sometimes daily. We're STILL losing people. For these first responders, September 11th has never really ended. These men and women went in when others ran out, and they stayed to work what became the largest crime scene in American history. They did it to take care of us, and we owe it to ourselves—as a nation—to take care of them.
The Zadroga Bill is named after NYPD Police Officer James Zadroga. Officer Zadroga died from an illness caused by his participation in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero.

Linda Maybaum Masia Such a shame that these heroes must still fight for the healthcare they need to be permanently continued. Shame, shame on the politicians who would even consider not making the Zadroga Bill permanent. How do these politicians sleep, they are without compassion or morals.

THE NYPD - CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS AND HONORING THOSE LOST
Last night we were privileged to once again protect New Yorkers and visitors as tens of thousands enjoyed the annual Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center.
As the holiday season begins, we also take a moment to remember and offer our thoughts and prayers to those killed, injured, and affected by the attacks in San Bernardino and Colorado Springs.

Eagle-Eyed Cops Rescue Hawk
Late Sunday morning members of the NYPD's Harbor Unit were on patrol in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge when officers observed a distressed hawk in the water. The officers approached the bird under the Brooklyn Bridge and saw that it was flapping its wings, but could not take flight. Police Officer Christopher Kessinger, wearing cloth gloves coated with plastic, reached down into the water and the hawk grabbed onto his hand and arm. Officer Kes...
