Today, FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro presided over a ceremony in Brooklyn promoting 62 FDNY officers. “With more 1,300 years of experience, this group of new Chiefs, Fire Marshals and Marine Firefighters have bravely battled fires, saved lives and performed heroic acts throughout their careers,” said Commissioner Nigro. “In their new roles, they will demonstrate the strong leadership that has been a hallmark of the FDNY for the past 150 years.” View more photos from today’s ceremony at http://ow.ly/WtlkV [Flickr]

Having earned the title of FDNY's Best in Show, Hot Dog appeared at Dog Show events, befriended attendees, posed for photos and helped to promote the FDNY's life-saving educational programs. In today's #FDNY150 photo, FDNY members demonstrate patient assessment at a Summer Block Party at EMS Station 55 in the Bronx. Over 13,000 people attended the Department's 12 Summer Block Parties in 2015, and over 1,900 of the attendees were trained in compressions only CPR. FDNY Engine 39, Ladder 16, Engine 28, Ladder 11, Engine 219 and Ladder 105 welcomed WWE Superstars Roman Reigns , Jimmy & Jey Uso, Big E, Xavier Woods - WWE Universe and Summer Rae - WWE Universe in today’s #FDNY150 photo, taken in August as part of WWE’s celebration of the FDNY’s 150th anniversary. While in New York City for WWE SummerSlam, the WWE helped the Department mark its milestone year by releasing a limited edition WWE/FDNY commemorative shirt featuring WWE Superstars John Cena - WWE Universe, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. FDNY members greet pint-sized New Yorkers in today’s #FDNY150 photo, taken at Engine 76 and Ladder 22 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan during the Department’s citywide Open House Event. More than 20,000 people visited Firehouses and EMS Stations on May 2nd of this year, in celebration of the FDNY’s 150th Anniversary.
FDNY Fire Commissioner Daniel A. On May 2nd, Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs welcomed visitors into more than 200 Firehouses and EMS Stations, where they educated the public about fire and life safety, conducted demonstrations, discussed the Department’s storied history, and offered tours of FDNY apparatus.
