Miss Colombia Speaks Out After Miss Universe 2015 Debacle
/ By Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon
Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has spoken out after the Miss Universe 2015debacle on Sunday, December 20 — thanking supporters and accepting her unfortunate fate.
The 21-year-old beauty queen was momentarily awarded the title of Miss Universe 2015 when host Steve Harvey read the wrong name off the results card during his now-infamous television gaffe.
But despite many commentators, including Miss Germany, and the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, wishing Gutierrez had been the ultimate winner, the pageant contestant herself says she's at peace with the situation. Click here to find out how celebs like Sofia Vergara reacted.
"After the storm comes the calm," the dark-haired beauty wrote via an Instagram caption. "I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world," she went on.
"Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe," she added, wishing Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach well. "The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS."
Following his excruciating error, Harvey apologized to Gutierrez via Twitter. "I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible," he wrote.

Teresa Giudice Released From Prison: Andy Cohen, Amber Marchese and More React
/ By Stephanie Webber

She's a free woman! Teresa Giudice was released from Connecticut's Danbury Federal Correctional Institution on Wednesday, December 23, following 11 months behind bars. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is now home in the Garden State with her husband, Joe Giudice, and their four daughters — Gia, 14, Gabriella, 11, Milania, 9, and Audriana, 6 — at their Tuscan-style Franklin Lakes compound.
As previously reported, Teresa, 43, is set to celebrate Christmas Eve with her brother, Joe Gorga, and her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga.
“They're on really great terms right now," a source told Us Weekly earlier this month. "Everything that happened with Teresa going away made both women realize that there are more important things in life than their old feud. Melissa and Joe reached out to Joe Giudice … and all four of them are on the best terms they've ever been on."
The holidays will be a special time for the reality star — before the New Year begins. Her husband Joe, 43, will start his 41-month jail sentence for his fraud conviction, in March of next year. He will turn himself in at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.
Teresa, meanwhile, will have plenty of time to catch up with friends. Some have already opened up about their excitement that she's returned home safe and sound.
"I am so happy for her," RHONJ alum Amber Marchese exclusively told Us in a statement. "I really am. Mother and her babies united as they should be. It is a true Christmas blessing. I wish the Guidice family nothing but continued happiness, love, and blessings."
Bravo's Andy Cohen also spoke out. "Welcome home @Teresa_Giudice! #RHONJ" he tweeted on Wednesday. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards even gave a shout-out to Teresa earlier in the week. "This morning I'm thinking about how much I love @amyschumer & how happy I am about @Teresa_Giudice coming home for Christmas #RandomThoughts," she wrote on December 20.
Tamra Judge added via Facebook: "I can't believe its been a year already. So happy that she gets to spend the holidays with her family, has to the best Christmas gift ever her children."
