Several Families Lose Homes in Bed-Stuy Blaze, Red Cross Says

BROOKLYN — At least three families lost their homes and a firefighter suffered minor injuries after two residential buildings caught fire in Bed-Stuy Monday afternoon, according to the FDNY and Red Cross.
The two-alarm blaze broke out at 274 and 272 Skillman St., near Lafayette Avenue at about 3:36 p.m., destroying at least three apartments, officials said.
No residents were injured in either three-story building, an FDNY spokesman said, and the Red Cross was working to provide temporary houisng for the families.
The firefighter was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center.  
Responders were able to get the fire under control after 5 p.m. and kept it from spreading to any other adjacent buildings.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the blaze.

VIDEO: Trio Wanted in Fatal Bed-Stuy Shooting

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Police released video of three suspects wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a Bed-Stuy man.
Three NYPD officers on patrol heard gun shots around 9:10 p.m. on Dec. 17 and found 44-year-old Kendu Allen unconscious with several gunshot wounds in front of 403 Madison St., officials said.
Allen, who lived on Herkimer Street, was taken to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Surveillance video released Wednesday shows two men talking near a car. One suspect is described as wearing a baseball cap and dark jacket, and the other is seen wearing a ski cap and leather jacket, officials said. 
A third man, who police described as wearing a light-colored long-sleeve shirt, light pants, and light sneakers, is seen exiting the vehicle.
