The plan calls for a paid chief and two paid support staff with the rest volunteers. It's unclear if or how much financial support the city will provide the new department.
The chief said that despite Tidwell being a good volunteer firefighter, they took action within an hour of learning about the post.
Said one betrayed firefighter: "I've known both of these people and worked with them side by side at fundraisers and fires. They were trusted officers and they took advantage of the situation."
