Happy birthday, Kitty Dorje (SA, born 4 December 1975)!
Kitty Dörje was born in Cape Town. She qualified as a Graphic Designer in 1997 from the Cape Technikon and then completed her Fine Art Degree at Michaelis school of Fine Art, UCT in 2010, majoring in print making. Her creative output is mainly in the field of painting, drawing, print making and video. Her video work has been included in the Mixed Tape Mobile cinema in Grahamstown (2009) and been part of the final selection at the One Minute Awards.

Happy birthday, Mimi van der Merwe (SA, born 3 December 1934)!
Mimi van der Merwe grew up in Malmesbury. She studied literature at the University of Stellenbosch and Fine Art at the Stellenbosch Technical College. She studied painting and etching at the Academy Royale in Brussels and specialised in etching at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1961-62 she obtained a bursary from the French government, and at the end of her studies she obtained the Prix de l`Atelier. The artist has taken part in many exhibitions overseas. She teaches printmaking, drawing and painting. She has also written a handbook on different printmaking techniques. She is a member of Soroptimist International Pretoria, a service club with amongst other activities, a strong interest in the Winterveld.
