The holiday cheer helps to break the fatigue and a lot of the uncertainty that goes with being burned.
The group, called Firefighters for Healing, was founded by retired firefighter Jake Laferriere; he was burned in a house explosion in 2010.

How should a newly appointed fire chief at a small- to medium-size department approach buying the right nozzle?
A nozzle is one component in a water-delivery system; know the system and how each nozzle's attributes fit into it.

Chip Comstock I'd ask why the "new chief" needs to be worried about nozzles. While the method of water delivery is important, I'd expect that a new chief should be examining funding sources, personnel performance, training and the status of written policies and procedures. As for nozzles, delegate this assignment.

Kevin Wilson Making something simple hard, It is not the nozzle. Put the wet stuff on the red stuff. Training, people, and good policies matter. The old Akron turbojet for me.

Barbara Bigley Czencz Oh, real simple plan for them. Arrest them all, throw them in jail for asault on a police officer and impeeding the response of an emergency vehicle, impound their vehicles and take their licenses forever! How horrible can they be.

Matt Miziorko I've also seen drills where you have to lift a ladder that has two glasses of water placed on their ends. The crew has to work together with airbags and cribbing to lift the ladder 3 feet off the ground without spilling any water.

Kyle Moulton It will if it is done right, coming from a combo dept. With full time union firefighters and volunteer firefighter filling in, it does work. All that needs to happen is no separation, a volunteer is just as capable as a paid firefighter. And to be honest, when a full time spot opened up it was filled by a volunteer.

Daniel Gutierrez A disgrace to the service..A "good" firefighter he might have been but a great firefighter not only has the skills to do the job but has the dedication to the community without prejudice whether it be on or off the clock. I can't stand bigotry.
