Let's see what Yelpers say--well, all very good and the one quibble is over cost ( I thought this place was expensive, but, after all, this is Manhattan so what do you expect?)

Review from Hunter M.
New York, NYI had fractured my left foot and was wearing a cast and using crutches. The doctor put a cheap shoe on the cast so it would not touch the street. Wanting something better, I went to Halpern which was about 3 blocks from me.
I was exhausted from the 3 block journey on crutches, and this woman at Halpern made me feel welcome and had me sit down. She then brought multiple shoes to put on the cast. When I stood to leave, she noticed my crutches were not properly adjusted for my height and adjusted them for me.
In summary, I felt like someone genuinely cared about me and had the healthcare knowledge to assist me. Unlike my doctor, I felt I finally got some attention for my situation. Great experience. -

Manhattan, NYVery pleasant experience at Halpern. My time there was short, but the pharmacist was attentive and took a personal interest in speaking with me. Very nice people. -

here, they fill my prescriptions rapidly and with a smile :]
it's much better than going to the cvs/duane reade pharmacies. only go there if you hate your life. plus halpern has loads of great stuff for old people, like a seat that lowers you in and out of the bath, like a ride. sick! -

New York, NYit's a bitch to get to but there's the bus.
the sparkling, attractive staff are friendly. i could understand the latina as she carefully dished out their hours, realizing that i'm deaf and wanting to be clear. the young pharmacist sparkled. the older man is the poster child for that magazine i used to see around town about cosmetic surgery. he seems never to turn forty but must be well into his fifties!
nowhere else i called in manhattan or brooklyn carries rubber crutch tips. i was told to come in and have mine replaced in-store. happily, sweatily, stinkily i plopped onto one of the eight chairs they have near the counter.
i shrieked. he was attaching three-fucking-inch-long flesh-colored tips to my crutches. "d'you have any other colors!? those are...old-people!" i gasped. ABJECT HORROR. he found a smaller pair in black that fit my crutches just fine.
$6.50 a pair is good, considering internet and NYC price dichotomies. and considering that i'm not squeaking around on giant granny nipples.
they're friendly, have a huge selection of everything you could possibly need, even commodes, if you've just gotten out of the hospital or are caring for a senile grandpa.
TONS OF DRUGS JUST TEASING YOU.
the bad: M-F 8-7; S CLOSED; Su 9-3. closed on SATURDAYS!? -

Manhattan, NYI give my business to local Mom & Pop's. Halpern has been in the neighborhood for decades, first on 24th and Second. Very helpful and courteous. This is a quality, local establishment. -

Manhattan, NYThey are the most considerate, thoughtful, and caring pharmacy around. They always have the patient's interests in mind--even sending me to a chain store if my insurance will cover it better that way. Living in NYC without these folks wouldnt be nearly as nice! -
Review from Elizabeth G.
Manhattan, NYI think they are very nice at this pharmacy but if you aren't using a prescription plan you will be paying way over market. They have been charging me 60-100% more than the pharmacy around the corner. This is not a small differential. I paid $160 for script that was $80 at the pharmacy around the corner. I paid $20 at Halpern instead of $8.00 for another script. They told me it's because of contracts but I am not so sure. It is very unfortunate since I really thought the staff was very kind. When I asked them about the pricing they became quite nasty. Sorry about this because I would my rather frequent a local pharmacy than a store like CVS. By the way the pharmacy with the better pricing was another local pharmacy and not a CVS. Bye bye Halpern. 5 other people are now leaving for the other pharmacy. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am. We have no plan now because we had to drop our insurance due to no work and now I wasted $500+ going to Halpern instead of another pharmacy in just 3 months.
