Let us see what Yelpers say-- oh yeah, I omitted one negative review at the end from 2012 that says this store failed food inspector tests because I am not sure if this is true or not--but make note of it anyway-- Wait, I notice the rating in this picture I just took yesterday is a "B"--oh yeah, another person says it is really grade pending...so something is a little off here, obviously
Again, a lot of people really like this place and a few dissenters...it is basically a deli more than a supermarket and a lot of people who work in the area come here to get food for lunch

Manhattan, NYOne of my favorite lunch spots in the city when I'm at work. It's super crowded during lunch times but the lines move very quickly and they have exceptional service.
My go to at Delmonico's is the ramen station. It's always the same guy who's working in that station. It's instant Korean ramen but for some reason, it seems to taste a lot better there than when I make it at home. I normally get the kimchi/beef ramen (TIP: even though the menu only has the items separate, you can combine the toppings). The ramen guy will ask you if you want an egg and if you ask for two instead, he'll hook you up for no extra charge.
The ramen is perfect on a cold or rainy day and I've already had a few other coworkers hooked on their ramen. And for $7, what's not to like? Especially in Midtown where the average lunch costs up to $10. -

New York, NYHave to update my review to be fair about my great breakfast experience here. They have a great, fresh variety of breakfast buffet dishes. Now - I am consistently skeeved out by buffets of any type in NYC food establishments, but the breakfast here looked and tasted so good that I consider it to be the ONLY exception to my normal skeeviness to buffets.
I still stick with my original review for their non-breakfast items - yech, not so great.
But go for breakfast!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Hoboken, NJYet another deli in the heart of midtown. The place has pretty decent food. All of it is fresh and there are a metric-ton of options here. It is slightly on the pricey side for what you get, but its delicious and I think worth the cost. It can get packed at lunch time, so you may have to wait a few minutes on lines at each counter.
Not too bad at all... -

Delmonico the food market is like if a deli and a food court had a nice delicious baby. They have everything from burgers, sandwiches, sushi, ramen to bibimbap to cater to everybody's needs. More importantly, they have a station designated to each food type so there is little wait...well up until the register line.
It is a bit pricey but a recent Groupon deal ($5 for $10) made this a great option for lunch in a heavy business area. From several trips, I tried the:
California Burger ($6.50) - Avocado should be a new official condiment for burgers. It goes just as well as any cheese or ketchup. This Cali burger was overstuffed with meat and toppings and flavor. It is a good sign when you have to stretch the mouth for each bite. (8.5/10)
Beef Ramen ($6.95) - At first I had my doubts when the chef broke two instant noodle packs into the broth. But the magic was in the broth and the beef. The soup was amazing and hearty. Also there was so much chunks of juicy tender beef that justified the price. (8.5/10)
Bibimbap ($8.95) - A giant container mixed with rice, bulgogi, mushrooms, greens, and a good amount of sesame oil. No egg though so it is pretty different from your usual bibimbap from a Korean restaurant. This one was also kind of bland and needed more chili paste. (6.5/10)
Even though the food is priced a little higher than average, they give a generous portion. This place has food cooking in your direct line of view at every corner. It is like you are a kid at a candy store, except instead of candy it is meats grilling and soups sizzling and instead of a kid you are a person rushing to get a quick lunch. -

Brooklyn, NYHANDS DOWN one of the best places to go in the area for kick-ass omelets. Seriously... They have an omelet station! That speaks volumes. It's about 5$ with all the toppings you can muster (extra charges for meats). I got a whole-egg vegetarian omelet with spinach, feta, tomato, bel pepper and some other yummies with a side of home fries and whole wheat toast (trying to watch my figure... obviously! - sarcasm)
The managers here are extremely kind and have a very tough stance on customer service; and by that I mean that nothing comes before it. As soon as you walk in the door Paul or one of the other managers greet you, often shaking your hand and direct you where you need to go. They are constantly cleaning, restocking and making their customers laugh and enjoy their stay. You can tell a lot about a business with managers like these, and their customers are loyal to a fault.
They also have a buffet, deli, grill, some groceries and large seating area. Their coffee is off the hook! Best deli/grocer coffee I've had - which you can tell by their 4 coffee stations that are constantly packed.
The establishment itself is kept up very nicely, everything is clean and shiny. Nice open atmosphere and an overall pleasant experience.
WILL RETURN!-

Brooklyn, NYSomething for everyone. Pretty typical midtown circus of uninspired fare. Nothing to write home about. I get the egg sandwiches sometimes. The guys doing food prep are working hard back there, sweating up a storm. They are very efficient but dont have stellar awareness levels about food handling rules and i see them touch a lot of things they should not with their plastic gloves still on while they are juggling food orders without changing gloves: write with a sharpie marker thats been lying around, while wearing gloves, then touch food. Grab a bite of food for themself, put it in their mouth and then touch your food. etc. But hey, that doesnt deter me from grabbing eggs here. (I also get a lot of stuff from food carts) -

Three words: Tex Mex Chili. Best chili I have ever had! I used to come here quite often with my coworkers for lunch when I interned across the street. Everyone is super friendly here and the service is quick. A good place to come if you're looking for a quick and good take out lunch. They have a variety of options from soups, salads, sandwiches to buffets and a lot more! -

New York, NYI had to say there's a done of these gourmet deli's in the area which almost reminds me of a cafeteria...but pricier.
This place has a soft spot in my memory because the first time I ever dropped by- it was pouring rain out and I of course did not have an umbrella. I was cold, soaked, and just wanted some hot soup for lunch. While I waiting for my hot tofu soup to be cooked, one of the employees was walking around offering customers freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I of course went for one and it was heavenly goodness! Still fresh from the oven- the chocolate chips were melted and the cookie soft and chewy. Since then, I always remember how friendly their service is and what a nice touch the cookies were on that rainy gloomy day. You could literally see the appreciation on everyone's face for such a small simple gesture!
That being said, my actual lunch (hot tofu soup) was great as well. They offer a generous portion of $8.95, which includes a choice of brown/white rice. There's a ton of veggies and they will even add an egg to the soup as well. There's 3 choices of spiciness to the soup as well. I have yet to finish the entire soup/rice usually get about 1/2-3/4 of the way through. -

Long Island City, NYI always get my bagel here (toasted dry) but they seem to have issue figuring out what's the real price. One day they charge me $1.10 and some other days $1.25. Come on what is it? The buffet table is pricey too. The food is a bit salty. -

Brooklyn, NYI am absolutely in love with this place. I cannot comment on their meals as I have not had one but they have a gigantic selection. I imagine that if you didn't know what to have for lunch, you could wander around until you found whatever it is you wanted. Now onto the best part of my internship.. the oatmeal at Delmonico's that I get almost every day before my shift!
$2.99 for a big tub of oatmeal and you can fill it with whatever you want. They have oatmeal made with water, oatmeal made with milk, grits, and I think even cream of wheat. For toppings they have dried raisins, dried cranberries, nuts and they even have bananas and apples cooked in brown sugar. The cashiers at the front don't even open the containers and I don't know if I'm breaking the rules or whatever but I even put some fresh blueberries up in my oatmeal. I am very, very sneaky sir. I've haven't tried the hot breakfast food line but the scrambled eggs and bacon always look delicious.
The owner/manager greets everybody that walks in with a sincere and friendly smile. He must have seen the lost look in my eyes the first time I walked in because he came right over to ask what it was I was looking for. Three days later he still remembered my order. That's fantastic customer service since they have maybe 1000 people walk through their doors in one day. And if you thought it couldn't get any better, this place is efficient. I never spend any more time there than I need to and I pay probably the most reasonable prices here. ($2.50 for a large iced coffee! Their large is bigger than a venti at sbucks)
At every internship I grow attached to a local spot. This time it'll be Delmonico's. -

New York, NYI come to Delmonico here and there because its right downstairs from the office. There are a bunch of "gourmet" food markets in the area, and Delmonico just seems to be another.
Inconsistent prices on sandwiches though. I've paid $7 one day for a sandwich, and $6 a different day for the SAME sandwich. I would think that they'd at least be consistent on prices, but I guess that's left for another day to resolve. As far as things to eat, there are tons of choices here. From two hot bars that have tons of selections, to hot/cold sandwiches, to salads and sushi, this place has it all.
My personal favorite thing to get here is the chicken parm sandwich. For $7.95, you get 3 large pieces of chicken parm, wrapped nicely in a hero. I've gotten this multiple times, and I think it's probably the best sandwich they have here. I've also had the meatball sub, which was decent, but not incredibly filling. The sub came with 4 meatballs inside, which are home made. There are peppers, seasoning, and other goodies inside that help give it a nice taste. This definitely is home made because you can't get this anywhere else.
For cold sandwiches, they are pretty much the same as anywhere else. Throw in your cold cuts, put on some cheese and mayo, and there you go. Go here or Whole Foods, it's pretty much all the same in the end. Sushi here is not bad, but not incredible as well. Just be prepared to come in with low expectations and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
This place is a decent spot to grab lunch. I don't hate it by any means, but I don't fiend for it either.....well maybe just the chicken parm sandwich.
Pfizer employees also get a discount here so don't forget to show your badge! -

Washington, DCFirst of all, the efficiency of this place is simply impeccable! They get you in-and-out of the line in record time almost as if the line to pay was an olympic competition. AND they do this without you feeling the least bit rushed. You don't feel like they are pushing you out of the door, you feel as though you are being served by people are really on top of their game & know what they need to do to be successful to keep bringin' you the goods. (Which is great b/c less time in line, more productive time in my day!)
The hot & cold food bar had so many choices (all of which were VERY GOOD). Paul the owner was great. Very attentive. When we were getting ready to leave he brought out hot fresh cookies that were simply amazing!!! I actually forgot that I was counting calories!
