Training Institute- For Therapists Who Feel "Stuck"
Saturday, June 11, 2016 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Stalled, Stuck, Stymied, And Stranded: Lessons for Keeping Psychotherapy Alive and Moving
Every therapist experiences feeling “stuck” from time to time. Sometimes it’s because we are unconscious of the patient’s transference and resistance, but at other times, even when we correctly interpret the meaning or origins of the enactment, the patient remains stuck in the therapy, in their life, with themselves. When this happens, both therapist and client often agonize over how to move past or through this situation.
Shelly Rosendraws on her knowledge of psychoanalysis, dissociation, and cutting edge research on the neuroscience of the unconscious to teach how to keep therapy alive. She will introduce 15 rarely discussed issues that arise in psychotherapy and forestall movement. In addition, this 3-hour workshop will be case focused. The presenter will use her own case material, and attendees are encouraged to present their most “difficult”, "stuck” cases.
