MY NEWEST VIDEO: Snowy Saturday Jan. 24 in Central Park ( with alternate title)
As I promised in my last video, I went back to the same places in Central Park where I was yesterday when it was bright and sunny and we were waiting for the big snow.
Most of the big snow either missed Central Park actually or got melted down a little by some drops of freezing rain, but as you will see, it is snowy enough ( I don't know if it is a true " Winter Wonderland," but hey, the kids and especially the dogs LOVE it-- that's why my alternate title, from an old German-American children's song I have not heard in about 40 years, "Ist das nicht der Hund and Herr? Ja, das ist der Hund and Herr!" -- the song being " Oh du schoene Schnitzelbank"--
( The song is an endless recitative --very cute and funny- I will give a cartoon posting for a Youtube vide of it here after the link for the video).
Oh yes, speaking of my French and German as spoken here: it is atrocious, as I mentioned before ( bad enough my voice isn't clearer as I need those dentures)-- "rusty" does not describe how much my abilities in those two languages has become.
My other ancestral language knowledge--well I don't even try to speak them, I stick to the basics, like" dzien dobry" for "Good Day" and , --apropos this video, "Tá sé ag cur sneachta" in Irish, ( by the way, I say it so it sounds likes " Tanshe tolsh shnachta" which doesn't seem to match the spelling Google gives)-- anyway ditto for my knowledge of Italian and what I have learned of Spanish.. ( In fact, if anybody says anything much to me in Irish, especially if it seems like they are talking about the weather, I just nod my head and say " tolsha, tolsha" which always goes over).
CENTRAL Park in the snow is fun, though.

Now, the silly old song if you are interested( cute little animation):

( Oh yeah, I have heard the German version which is also a drinking song,; "Hund and Herr" just means " Dog and Master")
Finally, in the video in the park, that one dog that was running away and not heeding his owner-- having too much fun in the snow-- the snow plow did NOT run him over but it was a close call. One of the joys of letting a dog off the leash in NYC, even in Central Park!
