This place is a charmer. I decided to go here before hitting up the Joshua Tree next door.  I wasn't expecting much, but it totally exceeded my expectations. I had a few standard rolls and some unusual ones. Everything was brought out quickly and tasted like the top notch sushi I'm used to having at the pricier places.

I really liked the decor. The place is something between a bar and a nightclub, but it wasn't terribly loud there. On my way out I saw the staff prepping a 15 person table and I wish I was going to that party. I would definitely come back here again before a night out in Murray Hill.

Half the place was empty when we sat down to eat, which could be good or bad. Almost "clubish" atmosphere here but the music was not overwhelming. I really like their cheap drinking menu. Enjoyed the Bahama Mama which to my surprise came in a big tall class.

    Our orders
-From their signature rolls: the Manhattan with shrimp tempura topped with spicy tuna, scallion and tobiko. it was good but tasted a little flat.
    -eel avocado: my favorite
    -yellowtail: very fresh

Anticipating a return to sample more from the menu.

This is the closest sushi near my apartment that's pretty decent. I've been here twice on a weekend and had no problem getting seated for dinner without a reservation.

I always start off my meal with the Kani Salad which is so refreshing and light. It's essentially a 50:50 ratio of mixed greens to crab meat along with other goodies that elevate this salad from boring to party-in-my-mouth fun. The tempura flakes gives the salad that crunchy component. Sprinkle in the toasted sesame seeds which add a depth of nuttiness. Each bite takes you through different dimensions of textures and flavors but the final destination leaves your taste buds singing in perfect harmony.

The sushi is good, but I'm a bit of a sushi snob so my standards are almost unachievable. I had the Alaskan roll (my go-to), Spicy Tuna roll and Spider Roll. My favorite of the three was the Spider Roll - the soft shell crab was crunchy/crispy and delicious. The other two were standard; however I could appreciate the ratio of rice to fish.

I also tried their Tofu Stir Fried Udon Noodles. Great portion size (had leftovers) and solid dish overall but I'm interested in trying the noodles in broth next time.

Reasonably priced dinner. Sushi is honestly OK. My friend found a shell in a roll and they would not refund her 100%. Annoying since it $14!  The decor and vibe was generic Japanese, nothing trendy.  If your looking to grab sushi It's a fine place.

Solid, reasonably priced lunch specials.  The food was fine.  The decor and vibe was generic Japanese.  Worth a visit for a good deal on lunch.

I have a secret... come closer...a little closer....

    Ready?

This place offers 6 dollar drinks! All drinks...6 bucks!...You don't believe me?... Yes, alcoholic drinks, Yes, decent size and yes strong drinks!

Michael and I were ready to get our dancing shoes, but before doing that we were looking for a place that fits our budget (for alcohol intake). I came here a few years ago with a bunch of girlfriends and remembered that this place offered drinks for 6 bucks! We decided to give it a shot! Glad we did!

We were greeted by the hostess and asked if we could just sit at the bar for drinks. After a friendly 'of course' we were asked 'what would you like?' by the bartender. Michael and I both aw the martini menu and I think we both got a little too excited. He got the lemon ball martini and I tried the pomegranate martini, we also shared a lychee martini afterwards. The drinks were made with a good amount of alcohol. (The dancing would of proved that, if you saw us dancing that night) The atmosphere is great, a pretty large space with beautiful lighting at the bar makes this place a girls night out or date place.

I have had the food here and it is always fresh and prepared quickly. I just think it is a bit pricey, but I guess it is Manhattan, what do i except...

Overall, 6 dollar drinks, I will be back for you

    Count on it!!

Ordered Take-Out from this on a Sunday afternoon while watching the NFC Conference game, ohhh-yeaaa.

Pineapple shrimp fried rice = pretty good.
Beef box = beef cooked too well and lacking flavor.
Fried pork dumplings = pretty good also.
Mochi ice cream = most likely the same ones from the store.

    Quick delivery.

This is in my mom's neighborhood so whenever I stay at her apartment I like to go here for sushi. It's probably just run of the mill good sushi but the best thing about going to this place is the BYOB policy.

I think the sushi is fresh and I have never been disappointed.

This is also a good place to bring groups as they have large tables in the back to accommodate.

This is my absolute favorite sushi place though. The decor inside is such a great touch. Must order the golden cheese wontons ($8 for 4)! They may or may not be on the menu, but they are fantastic!
This place is the best place to pregame. A long island iced tea for $5? You cannot go wrong here. Another favorite is the cucumber martini. Almost makes me feel healthier as I drink it? BYOB, but note there is a corking fee for the wine. And you can't bring a 30 rack in here. True story, I saw this happen.

I was really craving sushi, and Yasuda isn't something I can do every week, so I happened upon this place and gave it a try.

My 1-star rating is based solely on the food:

This place is really great, for non-Asians. In fact, I was the only Asian person there. So if you like sushi rolls with cute, crazy names, you've found your perfect place.

The sushi and sashimi were cold, tasteless and resembled supermarket fare.

This place is run by Chinese people, which breaks one of my biggest rules (no sushi restaurant unless it's run by the Japanese).  But at least they were very pleasant, and I liked them a lot.  So if you're an average sushi eater, but looking for decent service, then this place might be for you.

They also have other Asian fare like Thai, Japanese and Chinese (in the back of the menu).

I had been looking for a sushi place to go to in the city... Pretty sure I finally found it. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the spicy peanut chicken entree. The chicken was good but I was expecting it to actually be spicy... If you're looking for something spicy, this is not the dish for you.

I have ordered from here after having a good experience in the restaurant and once again the sushi rolls were good. I will definitely be getting food from here again.

For years people have been trying to convince me that Sushi is the most delicious food and that I was missing out because I don't really like fish. I can't even tell you how many people have tried to convince me to try sushi even though I rarely eat any seafood products, let alone raw fish.
I finally caved, and was taken to Nana Sushi for my first sushi experience. And I have to say, it wasn't that bad.

We sat the sushi bar and it was fun to watch the chefs at work making different rolls for all the patrons. It was interesting to see what they did and see if the rolls seemed like something a first-timer wouldnt be turned off by.

We started with some non-sushi dishes--something I would enjoy even if the sushi proved to be too much for me. We had the duck tortilla roll and the pork dumplings. Both were very good. The dumplings were small little bites that had a nice spicy kick in the end and the duck roll was juicy and the meat was tender. I enjoyed both of these dishes very much.

On to the scary part. We chose two rolls that seemed like they would be easy entries to the world of raw fish. The Honey Sandwich and the Sunrise.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Honey Sandwich. I did not taste anything like what I thought sushi would taste like. It was smooth, buttery, a little sweet...I cant believe I am saying that I actually LIKED raw fish. The Sunrise was not as good, but I still thought it wasn't bad. It came out steaming because it had salmon tempura inside, which threw me off a bit.
We decided to try a more adventurous roll after and settled with the black dragon, which has eel on top. This was a little much for a first dive into sushi, but I ate it and was not as put off as I thought it would be!

So, as a first time sushi eater, I was satisfied with Nana. I am sure if I loved sushi, this place would be a great go to. And who knows, maybe I will try sushi again!

The service was wonderful. They made recommendations, brought food out promptly and often refilled out water.

    4 stars for the food.

    3 stars for the service.

I've been to Nana twice, and both times, the food has been delicious. The sunrise roll is awesome. However, the sushi rolls themselves look REALLY small. It's also BYOB, but WITH a corking fee. A normal bottle of wine has a $6 fee (I think) and the large bottles have a $10 fee. The drinks there are pretty cheap though, from what I've seen on their drink menu. Most of the food menu is decently priced as well.

The service on the other hand.... is another story. The first time my friends and I went there, we had a reservation and were sat pretty quickly but then we just sat there for 10-15 minutes before anyone even came over to give us water or ask if we wanted to open our wine. The service throughout that entire night was really slow, especially when we were ready to order..we couldn't even find our water and we barely saw him the rest of the night.

The second time I went, was last night. We were there pretty early before our reservation (reservation was at 9) and the girl at the host table seemed pretty frazzled but I asked her if there was anything open anyways. She said no, so we just killed some time at the bar next door, hoping they'd have something ready for us when we returned. But when we went back at the time of our reservation, they had no tables and other people were clearly also waiting ahead of us. We waited for an annoyingly slow 30 minutes and were finally sat. From there, the service was actually pretty fast. Which made up for the wait in the beginning.

I'd go back for another sunrise roll though.

The fried rice and shrimp here is to die for. The best that I've ever had so far in NYC. Ever since I had it here, I haven't really felt like having fried rice anywhere else.
Also, I tried sushi for the first time here and I loveed it.

The green tea ice-cream was delicious as well. I was very suspicious at first(Yes!I'm a fussy eater) but Nana Sushi proved me wrong! :)

3 stars because the food and the service are totally different.

Every single dish I have had here has been amazing.  The sushi, the salads, the rock shrimp, etc.  It is all great.  The prices are super reasonable too.

They have 5$ drinks (beware).  When I tell you they use the cheapest vodka on the planet I mean it.  Even with the sugar and juices added to make it "fruity" it tastes like rubbing alcohol. I suggest asking for a specific type of vodka and paying extra for it. Their saving grace is that you can also BYOB :) !

Now the service.  Almost every time I come here the service gives me trouble.  Either they're over-charging you for the bill, or telling you they have a $15 credit minimum (which is absurd), or they're shoving your party of 15 into a small crowded corner for your friends birthday and refusing to seat some of your guests because they don't have the room (even when you made a reservation months in advance) and then having you wait at least 45 minutes to order (Yes, this really happened) they are awful.  One of their delivery men even harassed a friend of mine because she included the tip to the original charge.  He started to scream at her to the point where a coworker of hers had to escort him out of the building because he was on a rampage.

If you're patient and don't mind poor service then 100% try their sushi.  It really is great!

    Say nah to Nana Sushi.

Small portions. Mediocre food. I tried 3 different rolls and experienced 3 different tastes of failure. The wasabi had a couple specks of what looked like dust on it. Ugh.

Service wasn't exactly rude, but apathetic. Like forget to refill water or get order because she was playing on her food apathetic. The girl in the front was, on the other hand, genuinely rude.

I give them 2 stars because the food wasn't terrible and their lunch special is decently priced. They also are BYOB apparently, so if you bring your own drinks, maybe the food won't taste as bad.

Brought some friends from out of town here to start a Friday night and had a blast.

Made a reservation and got the table in the back. BYOB policy is great, but the drinks they have are reasonably priced too. We ordered a couple bottles of sake and the waiters didn't mind us doing sake bomb chants and making a mess. They even happily took photos for us.

Sushi is decent. Some of the regular chicken entrees are surprisingly good as well. Definitely worth coming back to.

Had a lovely meal at Nana one Wednesday night.  Started with the Edamame (possibly the biggest bowl of edamame ever), moved on to the Tuna Tartar (which was delish) and then finished with a combination of a few rolls.   Balked a little bit at the price of some of the special rolls (average $13 or $14) but after seeing how much good stuff was packed inside, definitely worth the price.

Didn't take advantage of BYOB, but did manage to enjoy a delicious cocktail with my meal.

If you are in the area, and looking for some tasty sushi, definitely give Nana a chance.

Nana was pretty good.  I was kind of hungry and just stopped in here after popping into Joshua Tree.  The price was about on par with other sushi places. No particularly super-great deals or anything.  They definitely passed my spicy tuna test. Their spicy tuna was creamy, but not spicy enough.  I also got the agedashi tofu, which was pretty good as far as age tofu goes. Usually I like it a little bit thicker, but the batter was thick enough that it was pretty good.  I would say that the place is pretty good if you were dying for sushi, but there are probably better and cheaper places to be found.

Funny anecdote, there were these two couples sitting at a table next to me and the dudes were all like, "bra, yo man I got mad financial backing on those investments yo" and the girls were like 1/8th their age with super-whiny high-pitched nasal voices.  They spent a good deal of time talking about money and how poorly the golfers on tv were dressed.  It was pretty awesome. :)

    Slam Bam Thank You Ma'am!

Sometimes we all just need a quickie. Get in quick, hit it, and get out.

Hooked up with Nana today and she gave me all I needed, and then pushed me out the door. Since I came into work late today after an epic night out last night (Yelp Elite event and a lot of mixed drinking) I just wanted to grab a quick lunch and get back to my office. Bumped into Nana walking down the street and jumped all over her.

Bento Box lunch deal for $7.75. Chicken teriyaki, two pieces shrimp shumai, rice, and six pieces of California roll. Miso soup or salad comes with it, so I got the soup. Everything tasted good. Chicken over a bed of crisp veggies was made well - good teriyaki sauce too. Shumai was crispy and flavorful, and the roll was very fresh and cut thick. Miso soup was perfect for my head that was hurting a bit from last night's escapades.

The place itself has a large cool bar area with funky lighting, three large flat screens, and lots of seating in the dining area. Very spacious and kind of chic looking. Friendly and attentive service too. No complaints here. Cheap and fast. Bang bang!

I think everyone deserves a quickie now and then. A little afternoon delight to help get us through the workday, eh?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FYI - a previous Yelper's comment about the restaurant inspection is incorrect. They have a B rating and 16 points as of July 14. No biggie.

    Good Cheap Neighborhood Spot

From the street, you'll think this place looks like some type of lounge with the Neon and LED Lighting blaring into the dirty Grey sidewalk of Murray Hill. Me and my roomie made a pack to always try something new in the area, although we both detest Murray "Fresh Out of College" Hill.

Nana Sushi just opened up a month ago and doesn't have their liquor license so for all you on a budget this place is BYOB and there is a wine shop directly across the street.

The food is cheap and pretty decent, better than most of the Asian places on the neighborhood, but more so I'd have to say that young owners take pride in their place and the food and deliver a great level of service.

For those of you that love specialty sushi rolls check out their Signature Rolls, everything from Sex in the Lobby Roll (Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna, white Tuna Avocado, & Black Caviar), Peking Duck Roll, and Vietnam Spider Roll (with Parsley & Spicy Shiracha Sauce).

Did I tell you they deliver? Great neighborhood spot. See you around the hood! *waves bye*

We made reservations for my friend's birthday and we were sat rather quickly. Our waiter was pretty attentive, and we ordered a lot of sushi and brought our own bottles of wine. The sushi was ok, we ordered a few of their speciality rolls, and they lacked flavor and tasted very similar. Regardless, we were enjoying our experience and were in the middle of dessert when the hostess came over and asked if "we could please hurry up because there were other customers waiting." We had been there for about an hour and were still eating our dessert. We were extremely offended and called the manager over to discuss the instance with him, and he preceded to make excuses and say how she was a part time staff and didn't know and was "doing her job." He didn't even say sorry. We were absolutely DISGUSTED with our treatment there, not to mention we spent a lot of money. I am not sure if this is maybe a cultural misunderstanding, but regardless it was the rudest situation I have ever experienced at a restaurant.

There are so many sushi restaurants in New York, I'll take myself to another one with better sushi and better service!

We visited here at about 7pm on a cold Friday night, and walked into a nearly empty restaurant.  Having seen the positive reviews prior, I didn't let the desolate atmosphere get in our way of some light bites.

We sat at the sushi bar and started off with an order of edamame and six steamed dumplings (they're also available fried).  Although they offer pork, shrimp, and veggie varieties, you can't mix and match, so we committed to the pork.  As we were happily eating at the sushi bar, one of the friendly chefs reached over and presented us with four "tuna tacos" complimentary of the house.  We eagerly scarfed those down and thanked him again for a tasty dish.  Shortly after came the neatly-presented "Sex in the Lobby" signature roll, an avocado roll, and three pieces of sushi (two sake and one ikura).  I complemented the chef on the buttery consistency of the salmon and admired a tuna piece he was preparing for another group.  Without hesitation, he handed me a complimentary tuna piece to sample.

Although we finished quickly, they were in no rush to free up our seats, despite the fact that the place was now PACKED and literally every other available seat was filled.  We lingered for an additional half-hour over some ice waters and struck up periodic conversations with the chefs as they were busily preparing other plates.  On our way out, I generously tipped the chefs at the sushi bar for their complementary additions to our meal, and told them I'd be back soon...I have every intention to visit here again and try out some other dishes!

I like Nana a lot! If your looking to get a lot of fish in your sushi come here. They don't jip you on maki rolls such as tuna and spicy yellowtail. The shrimp teriyaki was also really good and I usually don't get those kind of dishes at sushi restaurants. We went with a big group and did the BYOB. They just started charging a fee a few months ago. You have two options. Either everyone must order a minimum of $20 of food or pay a corking fee on each bottle of around $8 or so. Not too bad.

The music is fun and the scene isn't so bad for Murray Hill. It may look a little too glitzed but I ended up really enjoying it! If I had to recommend a place in the neighborhood for dinner on a weekend this might be one of the only ones.  Good for take out too.

Why are other Yelpers hating on this place? I've read the negative reviews and still decided to go here and found out that this place is AMAZING!!!!

Last night, my girls and I went to Nana Sushi to celebrate my best friend's 25th birthday.

And I suggest everyone to go to Nana Sushi after today!

    1. BYOB with NO CORKING FEE! Bring as much booze as you like! Get hammered for free! They provide you with wine glasses, shot glasses or Collins glasses! The waitress even OFFERED to open our bottles of wine. But I opened them before hand. LOL... We brought 7 bottles of wine!!

    2. Good Service!! Our waitress was amazing!  She kept coming up to us and checked on us every so often. She constantly gave us water and new set ups whenever we had more people coming to join our party.

    3. We were extremely loud bc we drank a lot and we were all girls, but the waitress never told us to tone down our voice. She even offered to help us take group pictures!

    4. The food is amazing and cheap for city prices! I suggest the spicy yellow tail!! I usually order spicy tuna, but now I'm in love with their spicy yellow tail!

    5. We brought our own cupcakes (as a surprise) to celebrate my best friend's birthday, When my best friend went to the bathroom, I set up the candles and cupcakes on the table. The waitress voluntarily  came up to us and asked us for my friends name. When my best friend came out of the bathroom, she had the whole crew sing her a happy birthday song!

    6. Good atmosphere for a BYOB place!

Overall, we had an awesome time! This is going to be our usual hang out spot! We get to eat delicious sushi and BYOB and save a shit load of money!

We'll be here in the next 2 weeks! Maybe a on Friday night so we can get totally wasted without spending like 30 dollars per a bottle of wine at your usual restaurant!

    We heart this place!
    • BYOB! We brought 6 bottles!! LOL
    • bar filled with empty glasses for you to BYOB!

I'm so glad this place opened up in my neighborhood!  Since it is fairly new, they've been offering several promotion deals...such as free rock shrimp appetizer which is awesome, 20% off on your online order, etc.  I've tried their sushi dinners a couple times, and they're very reasonably priced and fresh.  Sushi dinner for two is 38 dollars with 18 pieces of sushi, tuna roll and chef special roll.  Who can beat that price?!  Service is also very attentive.

No liquor license in place, so BYOB.  There is a liquor store right across the street for convenience.  This is definitely going to be my to-go local sushi joint.

I love this place.  I'm a vegetarian and I had the avocado rolls with soy paper instead of seaweed, fried vegetable dumplings, and a vegetarian version of pad thai.  Yummmmm!!!  Leave it to Nana Sushi to make me like Thai dishes.  I wasn't a fan before and I decided to give it a try.  Glad, I did.

The service was great.  We came early when it was practically empty which I love.  We got our food rather quickly.

I also love the BYOB!!  There's no worry about whether or not the bartender can make a good drink or not.

It's my new favorite place for Asian food!!
