It's been fifty years since Lee Harvey Oswald shot President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas.
Before Oswald became known for one of the darkest days in
American history, he spent some of his childhood here in New York.
Writer Steven Beschloss is the author of "The Gunman and His Mother:
Lee Harvey Oswald, Marguerite Oswald, and The Making of an Assassin".
He said Oswald's time in New York was formative.
"The person we met on November 23rd, that the whole world met after the assassination, was a desperate and delusional man and you can really see in the person the boy who was a troubled person already at a very young age."
