Crumbs Bake Shop- Gramercy/Flatiron

Well, not only do I get confused about which outlet we have here, so is Yelp in this case...as first review points out

I believe this is the Park Avenue South Crumbs

OK reviews but nothing amazing. Except a lot of nice comments about customer service...

..I was hoping reviews would be better about food itself because it looks like such a good place....but looks mean nothing in NY

First off, the address on this yelp review is correct but it's located between 20th and 21st, not in midtown! so if you want to go to the best Crumbs ever, make sure to look in the right place

Now, i'm compelled to write here especially because i need to echo some of the other comments. the staff and service here are by far the best and the main reason i come back!

the service behind the counter is so super friendly and always warm you with genuine smiles. they're always very thoughtful and seem to love their day. it really makes a difference. you can get coffee anywhere, esp since there's a starbucks everywhere. but starbucks doesnt make you feel good for the rest of the day :)

ps- crumbs also has the best rewards punchcard. for every 10 coffee items (even $1 iced coffees) you get a free coffee AND cupcake/muffin. crazy value

The staff is great here but the cupcakes are so hit or miss.
I treat myself to a cupcake about once a week and sometimes the cakes are moist and decadent and other times you wonder how long that cake's been sitting there.

I recommend asking them when the cupcakes were baked before you order.

I didn't know which cupcake to get so I asked the lady at the counter which cupcake was a unique cupcake experience. She told me the White Hot Chocolate cupcake because it had white chocolate mousse in the inside. White chocolate mousse is what sold me so I got the cupcake.

To my disappointment, there was NO white chocolate mousse inside.. it was only a plain vanilla cupcake with plain white frosting hidden by a few white chocolate chips and 4 mini marshmallows. It tasted terribly plain and I was so disappointed.. I don't think I will buy a cupcake again for a very long time. It didn't satisfy my sweet tooth craving.. it eliminated it.

There's something about this place that keeps me coming back for more.

Oh wait, that's right; it's the service. Coming here after a long day's "hard" work is often the highlight of my day. In retrospect, this could just mean I lead a very sad life, but that's what I have denial for. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

But anyways, I haven't had this much fun at a bakery since my friend and I were throwing cupcakes at each other. Don't worry, he was the manager. But yeah, I enjoy coming to this Crumbs so much, I often find myself making up excuses just to come here.

What started out as an unhealthy obsession to try every flavor of cupcake imaginable (and when I say every, I mean every *serious face* (they have a cupcake with a potato chip sticking out of it for *insert deity's name*'s sake)) is now the quintessential hang out spot where I can finally say "the usual" and actually have a usual. All of the workers (at night) are the most professionally casual people you would hope for at a place that sells cupcakes the size of a newborn baby's head. They're knowledgeable of their sweets and they're never pushy (don't you just hate that?). It's gotten to the point where my friends and I are on first name basis with the employees. Except Malcolm, but that's because he looks and sounds like Badger from Breaking Bad, so that's what I call him.

And they're so sweet to their customers. One time, I came in with a girl and told them it was our one year anniversary and one of the girls took the liberty to scrap off the confetti off of a cupcake and draw a little heart.

It's been over half a year since I've became friends with them and now I'm fat. "Fat with what?" you ask? Not fat with regret.

    ...Ok, maybe a little.

P.S. It only comes around once a year but right before Thanksgiving, try the apple pie cupcake. THERE ARE REAL APPLES IN THERE!

I've been to other bakeries, and I wanted to try Crumbs, given 1. how many other people seem to talk about it, and 2. it's a chain...so people clearly love the cupcakes, right?

I wasn't all that impressed. The cupcakes were on the same price point as a Blackhound or TLRH, but nowhere near as good in my opinion. That said, they do offer a pretty staggering variety of cupcakes, so maybe I just ordered the wrong ones?

WOW!  First timer over here and I got the Apple Cobbler Cupcake. It tasted JUST like an apple cobbler.  I actually can't handle sweets too well so I wasn't able to eat the whole thing (I know, I'm weird).  I loved it because there were actual pieces of apple inside and the crumbs on top had a great crunchy but soft texture and were full of flavor.  Definitely want to try more flavors next time!

I love their customer service. Besides going there for the Blackout and milkshake cupcakes I look forward to speaking to the sales personal. They're always so kind and happy.
This is one of the biggest Crumbs I have ever seen.
I do find the store set up to be weird, if you choose to sit, you will be awfully close to the other customers. Awkward.

Great Cupcakes and Great Service! I always gets a London Fog and Apple Crumb Doughnut or Milkshake Cupcake. The staff definitely creates happy campers. [Insert Smile Here]
