Review from Janice C.
On our last night in NYC, I was craving for a simple meal. Why did I think Eataly would be it? That place was a zoo!
Walking around the neighborhood near our hotel, we saw a not too busy Lulu & Me. We walked in and immediately felt comfortable with the semi-dimly lit ambiance with tea candles on the dark wooden tables.
Plenty of available seats on a Saturday night in Manhattan can mean one of two things: either the food isn't good or every one else is partying at some trendy spot. I'm happy to report that the food is TASTY and was actually relieved that this isn't a trendy spot! (A sign I'm getting older?)
You should order these well prepared dishes: tagliolini with lobster and scallops in a light lobster sauce; the sea scallops with fregola, fennel, tomato and limonata. Throw in a lemon shrimp salad while you wait for your entrees.
No frills, mid priced dining in Flatiron where you can actually have a conversation? Total win.-

Manhattan, NYCame for dinner and had very mediocre and forgettable food for the price, in my opinion. They do not have small plates/tapas as they are much more bigger plates and pricier than you would expect. We ordered the pork sausage, ricotta, mussels, skirt steak, and the potato fries. Skirt steak came out cold and everything else was nothing special. I would say the best plate was the fries.
Service was also spotty. Definitely would not recommend this place to others.Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 9/29/2013Peter, Sorry you found LuLu's so disappointing. Fortunately… More » -

Framingham, MAFood. meatballs and bean spread. Drinks - Manhattan and Chardonnay. Bartender great, even though a giants and 49ers fan. Was in the mood to try a couple of dishes and test the cocktails.
The food was very tasty. Meatballs were really tender and the best choice. The bean dish was more of a dip and tasty but not outstanding. The bartender was fantastic. Will be back to try a full meal.Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 9/24/2013Teddy, Thank you. We sure hope you come back, but I'm not… More » -

I thought everything was so good and the wait staff was very attentive.
I got the beef skewers - So good
The four chees fritters - Yummy
Skit Steak - Great flavor but I learned that chefs think medium rare is code for medium... I will commit in the future
To answer Nir's question from earlier the answer is 2005. 2005 is when the default tipping in New York City became 20%. It was kind of big deal but at the end of the day the city council voted and as New Yorkers we must prove that we are better than other people. I believe 15% may still be standard in New Jersey so...Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 8/12/2013Thanks, Justin. We are very appreciative of the support.… More » -

New York, NYLuLu & Me is a great lunch (and maybe dinner) spot right around the corner from my office. I had been scoping it out for months but never ventured in. Given that today was a cool (for July) I decided to stop in for lunch and a brew.
We decided to stay for lunch and 2 brews. The LuLu Unfiltered house ale was solid as was the Avery "White Boy" but what will bring me back again are the entrees and appetizers. For lunch the plates are just the right size to enjoy without needing a nap back at the office.
I had the scallops over risotto and greens and my colleague had the pasta and seafood (which included lobster, bonus).
Definitely a place for a business lunch and easy to get a rez.Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 7/30/2013Tom,, We're glad we made a new friend in the neighborhood.… More » -

Philadelphia, PAYum! I really liked everything that we got. We started off with: Beef skewers (SO GOOD!) - it comes in 4, and it's a tad spicy. I personally love spicy, but it's not explicitly stated that it has a slight to it. The pork sausage was also really good. It comes in one link. It's kinda of small to be sharing though :/ The polpettini (meatballs - 3 pcs) were great and is definitely a must try. OH! And the rosemary fries with basil mayo? YYUUUUMMMMM!!!!!
For main courses, the Tagliolini (scallops, lobster, and hake in lobster sauce) with fettuccine noodles were awesome. The sauce was creamy, yet light. A bit of an oxymoron, but they made it work! Mussels were amazing. This is the first mussel dish where every mussel was open AND had a mussel in it. My cousin also got mussels and it was the same thing. So the must really sift through the mussels to make sure everything is perfect. Every other time I got mussels, there would be a mussel shut, or an empty shell. OK... maybe the organism got detached from the shell and fell into the broth. NOPE. The skirt steak and ribeye was also very tasty! Grade A beef.
Service? Excellent. Friendly, timely, attentive, and helpful. It can't really get better than that.-
Beef skewers with a slight kick - yum

Chicago, ILMy sister and I were walking past after a day of shopping and stopped for an early dinner. We split the egg and zucchini sandwich, which was SOO good (and the fries were so perfectly seasoned that even though I'm usually a dipper, I ate them plain). We also shared the fettucini with porcini and shiitake mushrooms, which was also delicious. Drinks were strong. Service was a little slow for being one of the only tables, but I'd definitely go back.Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 9/5/2013Thank you, Lisa. We're delighted you enjoyed your visit.… More » -

Manhattan, NYHappy hour and lunch here have been wonderful experiences. The happy hours here are always enjoyable for me and my work friends. It's our go to place when we don't feel like paying 15 bucks for a great drink. The dark and stormy cocktail is amazing as well as the chocolate martinis. Mix them together and you're in for a birthday you most likely won't remember.
The bartender loved our inappropriate conversation during one happy hour here that he decided to give us free rounds of shots. Hey, it might just happen to you too if you frequent enough and talk about things others aren't as daring to. The food is absolutely delicious and the wait staff is super friendly and attentive. -

Hoboken, NJKind of weird that a restaurant labeled as a "good date night" closes their kitchen at 10pm on a Saturday, but anyway...
Rolled up here on a rainy Saturday night after going to the NYC Craft Beer festival at the Armory. They let us place a last minute dinner order since it was almost 10pm. The bar was pretty empty so 3 of us sat there. The food came out really fast since they all probably wanted to go home. It was decent but not memorable. The drinks were well made and the bartender had some good stories to tell. Would want to come back and give a full, non-rushed dinner a try. -

New York, NYThey include 20% tip in the bill. What if I'm not happy with the service ? Since when tip is forced for a couple ? Since when the default tip amount is 20%?Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 7/30/2013Nir, We put a gratuity on for parties of six or more or for… More » -

Pomona, NYGreat place! I came here with a friend for an early dinner before seeing a jazz performance. I had a delicious piece of fish and she had a tasty steak. Our waitress was very attentive and filled our water glasses every chance she got - I don't think our glasses ever got past the midway point before being refilled! Very clean, modern decor, friendly service and delicious food at reasonable prices for NYC. Can't complain.Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 8/14/2013KD, Hope the jazz performance was as sweet as you are. We… More » -

New York, NYVisited LuLu & Me for the first time last night. What a find! This is a very cool little spot. Nicely decorated with a very warm vibe. The staff is super friendly and genuine. So much so that you will have random, interesting conversations (and I mean real conversations, not idle chit chat). We had a great time talking with our server, Young!
Interesting and creative menu with a lot of variety. In fact it is truly difficult to decide what to have! You'll want to try everything. Between the two of us we had five different items and all were excellent. Well thought out selection of wine and beer as well.
This is a must if you're looking for a superb casual dining experience! Don't miss it! We won't!Comment from Michael M. of LuLu & Me 6/11/2013Steve, Thank you. We couldn't have asked for a kinder more… More »
