Was once the Loews Summit but has been overhauled
I stayed here years ago when my apartment was smoked out during a fire in my building ( the Fire Department warned us the smoke fumes were toxic--they had had to drag a lot of unconscious firemen out of the building--because the woman whose apartment had the fire on my floor had a STYROFOAM COUCH ( which are illegal).
Anyway, the hotel was really good but the customer service left something to be desired. Rude, actually. And I got my last minute booking through the hotel management, whose President I did some work for at the time.
Pretty good reviews for this place but the other Manhattan Double Trees are rated more highly

Philadelphia, PAI'm staying at this location while here on business. For the business traveler this is a fine location. There is a subway stop underneath the hotel and there Many shops and restaurants in the area.
The rooms are clean and comfy. Yes, the bathroom is small. Luckily, I don't intend on spending much time in the bathroom.
The business center is nice and is my favorite price. Free! It is convenient to print a document or make some copies.
I enjoy staying here.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 8/21/2013Thank you for taking the time out to share your thoughts… More » -

New York, NYThere is something sort of cluttered about the entrance area. The feng shui overall could probably use another look (the reception area is on the 2nd floor). The area's pretty limited for food past a certain hour you're kinda stuck with bars and pizza.
Wifi isn't included in the room (I think it was $10/night per device), but they get tons of channels on the TV, the bathroom's clean and the tub's a decent size. The bed was super comfortable, though when they changed the sheets the new ones had a big stain (they brought up clean sheets right away when I called).
I think it's a good option for a budget if you're able to get a decent rate on http://Hotels.com. I think the room we got was apparently actually over $300 a night (we paid half that) - definitely not worth the sticker price.
Warm cookies upon signing in are always appreciated. -

Arlington, VAMy sister and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid-September. I booked using Priceline and got the room for $185/night, which seemed like a bargain since hotels on other websites were going for well over $200/night.
The hotel is in a great location in Midtown East. The walk to Grand Central Station is not long, and there is also a subway station practically right outside the hotel. Also within a quick walk are tons of bars, my favorite bagel place in Midtown (Ess-a-bagel), CVS, and lots of restaurants. Central Park is not too far of a walk (we walked from CP back to the hotel), as is Broadway, Times Square, and Rockafeller Center. Cab rides to and from Penn Station ran around $10 before tip.
Check-in was very quick and we found our way to our room on the 4th floor (room 434). While the view was not too exciting, I have come to expect that when booking via Priceline. The room was a typical NY sized room with king bed, although I do believe it is bigger than the rooms at the W Hotel in Midtown. The bathroom is tiny and my only real complaint about the room - there is no way two people could be in there to get ready as it was barely big enough for one person. Express checkout on the TV did not work on Sunday morning, but I dropped the keys in the box outside the lobby elevator, so the TV checkout not working wasn't a huge issue to me.
As note, at check in you do get complimentary cookies, but neither my sister or I enjoyed them so they quickly got tossed. Overall, this hotel was fine. Not my favorite NYC hotel, but if I won it again on Priceline, I wouldn't be upset. The location is really the best part.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 10/21/2013Melissa H, Thank you for taking the time to share your… More » -

Stanford, CAI am currently staying at this hotel on business. Upon my arrival, I realized there was miscommunication between the firm paying for my stay and the hotel - not sure who dropped the ball, but the front desk apparently didn't realize the issue until after I settled in. They called me to tell me they put a $2,000 hold on my credit card until things were sorted. I would have appreciated the option to check out and make alternative arrangements before they put a hold on my credit. As expected, the charge could not be reversed as promised, and the Doubletree's response was, essentially, "oh well!"
At this point, I'm furious. I open my macbook to get some work done. The bed is comfortable. I felt a bit better. Unfortunately, the wifi is spotty (at best), and my HHonors ID was not working (HHonors members get free wifi, otherwise it's 14.95 or 16.95 per day...makes you wonder whether they throttle speeds for the 14.95 users). For $17 a day, I'd expect a decent connection - no dice. Don't expect to use netflix or to stream a youtube video without multiple pauses to buffer.
To add insult to injury - my bathroom was leaking. The bathroom is quite small, as others have noted, but that isn't abnormal for NYC. The water springing from the toilet, however, is abnormal. A maintenance worker arrived after midnight and dutifully fixed the toilet - his pleasant demeanor and professionalism was a bright spot in what had otherwise been a horrible customer service experience. The front desk, of course, did not call to check to see whether the toilet had been fixed, nor did they offer any compensation for the inconvenience (some of those waters that they usually give you for free would have been a good start...).
Lastly, housekeeping likes to vacuum at 7am. They also entered my room at 7:45am. I understand that there are many rooms to clean, but entering that early is a bit too much.
All this to say, the hotel is old and the service is awful. A truly vile combination. Look elsewhere. There are many other hotels in the same price point that will offer better customer service.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 9/10/2013Jaryn, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Ashland, VAVery nice, comfortable hotel. My husband and I stayed here for two nights. Clean and well decorated. Would highly recommend the conciege Christina as she gave us wonderful dinner recommendations and side trips. We could always count on her for great directions and spot on descriptions. She is a wonderful asset to this hotel. The doorman Julio was also invaluable to us as he is more than willing to help with directions. An incredibly funny and helpful person who will remember you even after only 24 hours in the hotel. If you stay here, remember Christina and Julio is you need help with anything!!!
P.S. Wonderful lighting in the bathroom!!Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 10/25/2013Deanna W, Thank you for taking the time out to review our… More » -

Chicago, ILDecent location. I was not overly impressed, but they have a better and bigger lobby than most of the smaller hotels in Midtown. They check for room keys at the elevators before you can proceed to your room at night, so no free rides. That's a nice safety feature. Long check in procedure. Standard for Double Trees.
Free cookies and a bar just off the main lobby entrance. They also have their own drivers for car service and it was cheaper than a cab or shuttle ride for 2 people. Clean and nice beds. -

Raleigh, NCI booked this hotel on Hotel Tonight, so I didn't know what to expect. The front desk was very nice and conversational (not to mention the warm chocolate chip cookies they give for free!). He was also quick in checking us in. All of the mascots for MLB's All Star Game were staying at the hotel, but despite the hectic running around of huge costumes, the service was great.
The room was very luxurious and very clean. All amenities were fully functional and the king-sized mattress was SO fluffy and soft! My favorite part of the room was the black-out curtain, since I knew I was going to come in late and wanted to sleep in.
A subway station is a block away and cabs are always readily available out front. I would definitely stay here again.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 7/17/2013Alison L, Thank you for the wonderful review. It is always a… More » -

Manhattan, NYAs a Hilton Gold member, this place is a disappointment. An over-scented lobby greets you upon arrival. Then, a not so friendly hotel staff checks you in -- says I am lucky to have been upgraded to a room with 2 beds. As a single, business traveler I just want the single queen/king bed I ordered.
Take the elevator up to the floor and are greeted with dreary carpet and walls scuffed everywhere. Looks like it hasn't exactly been taken great care of. Feels like a dorm room hallway. The room is fine, more chipped paint though and tiny bathroom. Stark is probably the word I would use. I can feel the coil springs in the bed. No complimentary water as is typical.
Overall, I typically love Hilton's as they are reliable and moderately priced, especially for business travel. However, for this room costing nearly half a grand a night I expected more. Granted this is NYC, but still -- there are better hotels here for the price.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 9/24/2013Chris Y, Thank you for sharing this quick feedback on your… More » -

Boston, MAHotel right next to Lexington Ave subway and is very convenient for getting around. Bar in lobby is Nice. I would recommend a more 1960s Jetsons theme as is period for this hotel. Room was clean but the AC not as good as it should be. After calling front desk and having it looked at it seemed to work better. Friendly staff! I would stay here again.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 9/24/2013D.B, We appreciate your comments and are very proud that… More » -

Charlestown, MAThis hotel was the perfect location for a recent business trip. Also, once work responsibilities were finished, I was able to hop on the subway, which is conveniently located across the street (the 6).
The hotel rooms kind of remind me of the Doubletree in the Financial District, which is unfortunately not a compliment. In both Doubletrees, the rooms are on the small size by hotel standards (which is probably average size by NY standards). However, within the Hilton brand, there are hotels with average to enormous sized rooms (ie: Hilton Times Sq at average, and West 57th Hilton at enormous).
The room was comfortable enough for one night, though the bathroom is a bit on the small side, to the point that there really is not enough space to put the towel down in front of the shower without covering up the doorstop (and potentially creating a chance you step on it accidentally when getting out of the shower). On the plus side, there was a good amount of counter space with the bathroom sink.
The staff was friendly, there were plenty of employees assisting with storing luggage and helping hail cabs for you, which was excellent. At check-in, I received a voucher to pick up two bottles of water from their bar. I guess that would help wash down the always fabulous (just don't read the nutritional label) cookie that is part of the Doubletree experience. I would stay here again should my travels require it, however there are other Hiltons in the city that I prefer.-

For the Fancy Food Show crowd, this is perfect location. It may seem far away but it is actually convenient. If you attend or exhibit at any trade show at Javit Center, this hotel is just perfect. The trade show normally provides free shuttle bus to Javit Center. The shuttle bus stop is the beginning of the line (at Waldorf Astoria on Lexington and 50th);hence, it ensures a seat for you.
Cafe Metro and the Dermaco coffee next to the hotel are great breakfast places. Or, you can just go around the corner for the famous Ess bagel or au bon pain or Le Pain Quotidient, etc. Duane Meade is right there for ice and things you may need for the show.
Subway line E and 6 are running by, so you can go to World Trade Center or Chinatown/Seaport area easily. 5th avenue is a few blocks away. Your spouse can navigate to shopping on 5th ave or Rockefeller plaza on her own while you are at the trade show or conference.Comment from Nadria B. of DoubleTree By Hilton Metropolitan 7/4/2013
