Inform Fitness

Ok, let's try a smaller fitness place that gets better overall reviews than Equinox Midtown East  but not enough reviews to really satisfy me and some seem a little old...

I am going to have to look for a Yelp feature on best fitness places period

**InForm Fitness Has Changed My Life**

Ask anyone who knows me, I was a bona-fide couch potato.  I never worked out or watched what I ate and it all caught up to me.  I looked in the mirror one day and I said I'm 35, I'm 50 lbs overweight, I'm still single and I hate myself.  I was depressed.  I genuinely wanted to change and I wanted to get healthy -- but trying to decide where to go, who to speak with and what to do about it was overwhelming and intimidating.  I saw Adam Zickerman, the owner and founder of InForm Fitness and his Power of 10 method on TV, and I saw celebrities doing his workout.  It seemed too good to be true.  An effective workout in 20 minutes?  Once a week?  I made a deal with myself, I could at the very least, find 20 minutes once a week to workout and not having time was no longer an excuse.

I came in for a consultation with my trainer, Cary, and from the very first moment we sat down together I knew that we would get along and that he would be a great trainer to work with.  He was warm, friendly and very approachable.  He was extremely knowledgeable and asked me a lot of really good, really specific questions so that he could get to know me and my current situation.  He encouraged me to ask any and all questions -- he wanted to make the process as transparent and informative as possible.  He took the intimidation factor out of the workout and laid it all out for me.  All I had to do to start was to commit to showing up every week.  Which I did.  I will be honest, it is a challenging workout.  It involves a specific type of metabolic conditioning that emphasizes strength training (lifting weights) at a very high intensity.  You lift heavier weights but you perform less reps and you do them slowly over the entire range of motion throughout the positive to the negative.  Fewer reps means less time spent on each exercise so you can get a full body workout in 20 minutes.  It's true.  And doing them slowly while being supervised entirely by your trainer means that it is much safer with less chance of injury - they monitor everything during the workout closely from how heavy the weights are, how long you perform the exercise as well as the tempo of your movements, your posture and form, and even your breathing.  The routine is extremely effective and very efficient.  There isn't any downtime or time wasted between exercises so it's over before you know it!

But it's not just about the workout itself.  Adam's method involves several important pieces, including the Workout, Nutrition (they never use the word 'diet'), and REST!  You must rest in between workouts and let your body recover so getting a good night's sleep every night and trying to keep your stress levels down is emphasized just as much as completing the workouts and having proper nutrition.  What I like best about InForm Fitness and my trainer Cary is that they do take a holistic approach to your fitness and wellness.  They don't just focus on the strength training, they also work with you on your nutritional habits and other lifestyle choices to figure out the best ways to design your workout to achieve your goals.  It's a truly collaborative effort.  I have a really stressful job and healthy food options aren't always available.  But with my trainer's support and guidance, we've been able to work together to make changes that I could incorporate gradually into my daily routine and stick with.  In the hands of my trainer I've been able to progress consistently and I've lost about 20 lbs and counting since I started in March 2011.  I am so incredibly pleased with my results so far.  I never thought I'd be able to lose weight and get fit.  I am a lot happier and healthier now.  I have more energy and I have the confidence to try new things and meet new people.  It's changed my life.  I still have a ways to go in my fitness journey but working alongside my trainer and the entire staff at InForm Fitness I know that my goals are attainable and I am looking forward to better and better results.

This is the best workout by far that I have done. It is a little different since you lift slowly and until you are at muscle failure. It all happens in 30 minutes! Yes, only 30 minutes. I figured that I could not be that much of a slug! I started almost 4 years ago and I have seen alot of results! Even in a few weeks I felt better, stronger and leaner!

The staff there is very helpful and nice! The owner and one of the trainers, Adam Zickerman, is very through and knowledgeable. They explain everything on your first session. It is one of the only gyms that actually use a chart to plot the weight you lift, the seat of the machine, and the time it took to get to failure on that machine. It is nice to know that if you train with different people they all have what you have done.

I would definitely recommend this gym!

I've been working out at Inform for a couple of weeks now and I am enthralled with this method of strength training.

Using the slow burn method, you wear your muscles out (causing them to tear and rebuild - a natural process of strength building) and get an incredible workout in under 30 minutes.

I was initially skeptical of this method as I never believe in "quick fixes," but it is very safe and effective. It's an excellent way to target problem areas and build strength and tone in all major muscle muscle groups.

My trainer is Anel and he is very attentive and encouraging. He is very focused and watches everything to make sure I am safe, not ever cheating, and getting the most from the workout.

I have to admit, at first I was skeptical about this approach. Would one work out a week really make a difference? After only a few sessions, I realized that my body looked and felt so much tighter.

Anel is my trainer and I highly recommend him or anyone at Inform. It's a great, fun group of awesome trainers!

I could not be happier with this training. The program pushes you to work hard and without an immense time commitment.

With the insanity of a NY work schedule, this offers both convenience and results.

My trainer, Anel, is not only incredibly knowledgable of the body and this particular process, he is also supportive and encouraging throughout the program. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing and results-oriented, approachable fitness program.

I had a great experience at Inform Fitness! I had never done this kind of strength training before, but I felt a difference in my body after only the first session! By the second session, I already felt stronger.

My personal trainer is Anel, who is awesome and really easy to work with. He explains what each machine does with great detail and patience. He is extremely supportive and encouraging - I highly recommend him!
