New York, NYI would like to think this place helps contribute to giving midtown east a more classy/ cool neighborhood vibe in an area that is sometimes altogether a confused mix of business office, Times Square and no mans land.
I really do love The Smith, most particularly appreciating the open paneled front exterior of the restaurant which opens up the space nicely. It's got a candlelit/ summer night/ beer garden vibe in the PM if that makes any sense. For brunch the space is equally enjoyable. The restaurant is usually full, but you can catch a seat at the bar given the right timing, which I actually prefer. The food is solid. For being here quite often I don't think I've actually ever ordered much off of the food menu... Usually around for bar snacks and cocktails. I would say the deviled eggs are pretty spot on. As is that heaping pile of chips tossed with blue cheese sauce or whatever it is. Oysters are the standard goodness too. -

New York, NYOne of the best brunch spots in New York City. I'm never dissapointed when I come to The Smith for Brunch. Everything on the menu is great. The ambiance is very energetic, and Sunday Brunch yields a very loud dining room. I recently tried The Smith for lunch and everything was fantastic.
It is a great place to go with a group of freinds, siblings, or parents. I would recommend making a reservation. Also they will not seat you until your entire party has arrived. -

Greenwich, CTThis a good option in the midtown east area for food and drinks. The food was pretty decent overall.
The filet mignon at $33 with fries is a good, nicely cooked, reasonable steak for the price. The shrimp tacos and the tuna tartare were both tasty but neither of the fishes were super fresh. The chicken pot pie was very good as well but could have used a bit more chicken. The calamari was enjoyable but had been drenched in too much tomato sauce. The desserts were OK and my favorite was the Smithwich ice cream sandwich.
The service was very friendly and helpful. We were there on a Thursday night and by 8pm it was insanely loud but had an interesting mix of folks and a very active bar scene. -

Zürich, SwitzerlandI had many drinks here. I remember I also ordered food and I liked it.. My memory is blurred.. but I will never forget the photo booth in the bathroom. Pure Awesomness! -

Boston, MASuper loud for dinner, but fun food. Loved the potato chips w/bleu cheese fondue and fish tacos. Great martinis, and service. Loved the photo booth. -

New York, NYWasn't wowed. It was busy for brunch and we sat in the middle of the inside dining room. It's loud on a Times Square level here and the indoor seating reminds me of an office cafeteria. Having worked as a server in my previous life, one of my pet peeves is not being acknowledged for more than 5 minutes, at least with some water. About 10 minutes went by before our server greeted the table and we waited another 15 before drinks were ready. My margaritas kind of sucked which I'll chalk up to a rushed bartender. It looked like they needed more staff on the floor, since sub-par service continued throughout the meal.
I liked the potato chips with blue cheese, and the brunch menu is good. -

New Albany, OHYUMMMMM! This place is delicious! We had dinner here last saturday and man, it was incredible. From the bread served before dinner, to the Moscow Mules (only way they could have been better would have been in their signature drink copper mugs!), the Mussles and the Filet Mignon, we could not have asked for a better meal. The prices are fair, actually less than our lunch at a crappy deli- if you can believe it! The bathroom threw me for a loop- a unisex stalled bathroom just down the stairs- alrighty then! No primping in the ladies room here! Our server was a doll- very accomidating and super friendly. When we are in the city again, we will definitely come back!! -

Bridgeport, CTAlthough the food is awful I usually end up at this spot once a month. My single friends love this place - plenty of opportunities to meet someone new. The mussels appetizer and artichoke flat bread are the best thing I've had here. Mixed drinks are alright. Beer selection is good. Coed bathrooms with photo booth and shoeshine fun touch. -

Financial District, Manhattan, NYGreat brunch spot in an otherwise pretty lame area. Came here after my move and everything was really good.
Had the hash which was better than most, bloody mary's were good and the service was on point.
Would definitely go back. -

Cook, ILThis place was packed by 7:00 on a Wednesday night.Very LOUD...but fun. Great atmosphere...great space... Food left us asking why can't this be better...Bland Bland Bland and for no reason.Tried several things between three of us hoping to hit a winner...Waiter and Management very willing to listen to our comments which was very generous...just seemed that everything we tried need more seasoning or taste. The grits and corn were great...hope it is was just a bad night. Will try again. -

Forest Hills, Queens, NYCame here on a Wednesday night at 7:00pm with a girlfriend and we were seated promptly even though the place was packed. I ordered the Tagliatelle (black pasta, sauteed shrimp, scallion, crumbled garlic bread) and it was fantastic. My friend ordered the Brick Pressed Chicken and enjoyed it as well.
The staff is super friendly and on point. The only con might be that it's very loud and we had to shout just to hear each other but other than that, I will defintely be coming here again. -

New York, NYBrunch is the best here. Sillcian baked eggs, Smoked Salmon Benedict. and Chicken, Walnut Salad with Caramelized Onions. YUM
The service is fast and efficient. Brian our server, handled the whole table of 20 people! I was very impressed.
They have a cute photo booth downstairs by the bathroom. Oh yeah the bathrooms are individual stalls, and unisex bathroom sinks and mirrors! FUN -
Review from Julie L.
I still like the food at the Smith. Came here for brunch and ordered the smoked salmon benedict and a bloody mary. The benedict was delicious. It's hard to perfect the poached egg but the Smith did a great job. The home fries were way too salty for me so I didn't eat any, but just the main was more than enough to satisfy my appetite.
The reason for the 3 star review update was that the wait staff was cleaning the ceiling with a mop right above the patrons' heads. I think they were trying to wipe off the condensation from the AC but I think they should've reseated people so all the dust wouldn't fall into people's plates.Listed in: The Yelp 100 Challenge1 Previous Review: Show all »
