New York, NYGranted I have limited experience, but these guys saved the day.
Ikea furniture is European. Hence, it comes with metric sized hardware. Read: not easily replaced if lost.
I needed a metric nut and bolt - 8mm. This store had both. No other hardware store in Manhattan that I visited had anything close. -

Manhattan, NYSuch a random thing to write a review for but I had a great experience here.
My husband spilled some soy sauce on our brand new couch that could only be cleaned with a non water based cleaning product. When we bought the couch at Crate & Barrel I had asked if they had the cleaner but they did not. I went to three stores at 9pm the night the spill happened and found nothing. I went to three in the morning and found nothing. I called Crate and Barrel who said I could find it at Home Depot or Bed, Bath, and Beyond and found nothing.
On my defeated walk home I saw this teeny tiny little hardware store and almost didn't walk in. But I figured - what the heck? I am here anyway. So I crossed the street and to my surprise they had something they thought would work!
I took it home and held my breath while the product worked away and the stain is gone. Great price and a great result.
It should also be mentioned that the guy at the store does handy work for $50/hour anywhere in Manhattan. He said that he has people you can call for recommendations. I will comment on that if I decide to follow up and hire him! -
