This old sculpture on East 34th Street is something of a mini-landmark now...the artist even has a case with materials in it on the sidewalk near his right foot.
The very first time I saw this thing, I was in fact for a second fooled into thinking I was watching a real person painting and being very still for a short period of time
Also, over time somehow nature has given this work some kind of patina that makes it not quite so seemingly real. I doubt anybody ever mistakes it for a real person these days, not for a second.
