A Few Last Words On Lincoln Center

Wow, it really WAS quiet today at Lincoln Center...like a neutron bomb had been dropped on the place or something.

The only negative comment that might have some bearing is one woman complaining " It's so hot"--actually, it was not that hot (not even 85 degrees) but the sun seemed very intense--oh, that's right, we're at the height of the summer equinox here-- I had plenty of sun screen on to shield the skin which I have inherited from people who lived in mists and forests and icy winters in Europe...(going in for more Mohs surgery end of this month).

The Public Library at Lincoln Center (top) used to be a magnificent place...a huge repository of vinyl recordings, original scores and librettos, and a very well informed and helpful staff. I am told it is not what it once was, but I have not been there in years so I would not know. ( I do know they closed down the Donnell Library near the Modern Museum in Midtown, which also had a big audio department...wonder where it all their material is now).

Second building is the famous Julliard School of Music. I wanted to say that anyone who knows anything about serious music needs no explanation about this place,  but that is such a parochial attitude when I think about it ( and probably a snobbish one) that I have to include this:-- from U.S. News College Rankings, "is This the Right School for You?"
