Helmet-cam video taken by Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad Captain Adam St. John and posted by Brett Russell from a house fire Monday in Burtonsville, Maryland (Montgomery County). A mayday is reported at 4:30 in the video after Firefighter Russell fell through the floor.
A fire at a home in Montgomery County injured a firefighter and displaced one family early Monday.Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire in the 2200 block of Kings House Rd. in Burtonsville, Md. around 1 a.m.
The two-alarm fire brought more than 75 firefighters to the scene to help extinguish the blaze. Fire investigators say the fire started in the basement of the home due to a wood stove.All occupants of the home were able to escape uninjured. The family is now displaced.
A firefighter was injured when he fell through the roof of the home, but officials say he was treated for his injuries and released from a local hospital.Fire investigators have ruled the fire accidental. Damage to the home is estimated at $800,000.
