Stumbled by this one day as I was going to meet up with a friend downtown.  Today, I had time to kill and was feeling a little down so decided to have lunch here.

There weren't a lot of people around at 2:30 in the afternoon but I did get prompt, attentive service.  I didn't immediately know what I wanted so I stood for a moment to decide but it was very brief.  Got my food warm & exactly as I wanted it.

Oh, and they also have one of those great soda machines like the ones at Wing Stop in Astoria where you can create your own Coke product.  I got a cherry flavored Dasani water that was really good.  For $10, I'm still full from it (though I don't weigh all that much so take that as you will).

This location isn't miniscule, the bathroom was clean (unlike the ones I went to in Long Island) & I haven't had any ill effects from being here.  Is the afternoon staff just better or did some people get fired?  I don't know but I would return to this location despite not getting one of those scratch off cards to get a discount or free item on a future visit.

So when I went there with a group of my friends, we had the worst service ever. For starters, we had to wait around 10-15 minutes for each person in our party to receive a burrito. Plus, when one of my friends was paying for his food, he gave the cashier 7 dollars. Inattentive as she was, she literally asks him how much he gave her, and he answers but she didn't really care. And on top of that, she doesn't even give him his change back (his meal was around 6 dollars).

Plus we noticed a health inspector was there..and he didn't look too happy.

The food was nothing to brag about. It's like chipotle..just much worse. Never going back here, sorry.

A very lazy staff that does not follow the corporate policy of greeting customers and take too long to compete the orders, and have terrible attitudes. This branch is definitely not fitting into the mold of what most Moe's are. No problem with other locations, but I'd advise you to skip this location.
This location rarely opens on time, and usually closes at least 15 minutes before the posted closing time. If it is posted they open at 11:30, don't expect to get served until 25 minutes later. Bad management sets the tone for incompetent and indifferent employee attitudes.
In addition, this location is dark, dirty, and not very welcoming. I am looking forward to better run Moe's expanding in Manhattan. In the meantime, back to Chipotle.

Decided to break my Yelp review hiatus by writing a review for - yes, Moe's Southwest Grill!

For some strange reason unbeknownst to me, I've had a hankering to try Moe's ever since they reopened earlier this year. I finally got the chance this past weekend. I walked in with semi-low expectations given the 3 star average, but was pleasantly surprised.

I went with a Jr. Burrito (not so Jr. pricing tho - it was only about $1 less than the normal size!). Used my yelp-check in for another $1 discount...score! The employee serving me was super friendly and tremendously accommodating. I loaded that baby up with brown rice, juicy and succulent pork, guac(!!), a dab of sour cream, corn salsa and a bit of cheese. The result was glorious.

I'm now a big fan and will def be back as long as the workers are as sweet as they were when I went!

I got the chicken quesadilla, and it was delicious! I was able to add in a little bit of everything I wanted, even bacon! I'm a chipotle lover but Moe's definitely won my heart! The food was tastier, the price was cheaper.. N the chips n queso are awesome!

Meh.  This was my first time at a Moe's, so I can't speak for all of the restaurants in the chain.  This location was not very well maintained, and the staff looked pretty bored.  Stopped in to enjoy a $1 check-in offer and with high hopes because my husband enjoys this chain.

I ordered a steak quesadilla and it was pretty tasty.  I think their entire setup is very comparable to Chipotle, but I liked that Moe's has quesadillas, because I prefer those.  Also, it comes with a side of chips.  Score!  The "make it a meal" option was pretty cool, and I got a fountain drink with a side of guac.  I thought it would be too small, but it was actually the right amount for the chips.  So in the end, the food quality is better than taco bell, but probably a step under Chipotle.  Their extra meal choices and add-ons probably even them out though.

This place recently reopened after renovations, and looks like new.  The food is similar to a Qdoba or Chipotle, but the store tries to be a more "fun".  The menu items have wacky names, the employees have random nametags (Link from Zelda, Princess Peach, etc), and they seem to actually enjoy their jobs.  When you're selling a commoditized meal like fast food mexican, it's these little things that make the difference.

Good food, free chips and salsa, and pretty cheap.  Give it a try!

I've been to a bunch of different moes and never had a problem, but I think I might have grown cobwebs waiting for my food here. 26 minutes to get one burrito with two people in front of me in line...are you kidding me? This might be the slowest group of people I've ever seen attempt to work anywhere. No one knows what they're doing and the food was prepared wrong. It would have been easier for me to get my food if I had just been able to go around the counter and make it myself. Incompetence at its finest at this location!

It's a Moe's which is a hard thing to find in NYC but it's probably the worst Moe's I've been too.  Everything just takes forever, like no one seems to be in any rush or have a great understanding of what they are doing.  And the portion sizes don't match up to what I'm used to in the south.

But everyone's nice and I love me some Moe's queso - get the nachos.  Plus the free salsa bar is always a plus

    "Welcome to Moe's!"

Oh, hi. Sorry! You caught me off guard. No, I'm not familiar with the menu. Sure, I'd like a burrito. Black beans. Brown rice makes me feel health-conscious. Oh yes, guacamole and steak. Cheese and lettuce and salsa.

What's that? You're giving me a few handfuls of chips -- free? And a salsa bar? Like a perfect Chipotle and Burritoville hyrbird? Somehow, the store is so clean you could eat off the floor.

Moe, I don't know where you came from, but your $8 "Triple Lindy" burrito was so good I went back a few days later to have another. Yup, still good.

There's no Chipotle near Stuy Town, and until there is, Moe's is the queen of my fake Mexican craving. Even better, Moe's delivers orders over $15.

    Dear Moe's,

Your Cup of Queso is AMAZING. Thank you for giving me lots of chips to go with it. Also, thanks for refilling my basket with more at no additional cost : )

    Yours Truly,

Moe's is better than Chipotle & Qdoba combined

    Queso = orgasm
    Tomatillo Sauce = orgasm
Free refills on chips, salsa, and soda = orgasm
Multiple sizes of burritos = genius

Best queso dip in NYC? YES

For fast, psuedo-mex food it's a good deal.  The burrito's are massive- gut-bustingly big, so if you have an appetite, this will do the trick.  Allow room for the rice to expand in your belly as well.  Both times there I've had the shredded pork, either in the triple lindy or the homewrecker.  Nothing special about the fixings, except the option for grilled veggies (onions, peppers, etc.). I've asked them several times to offer fish, but being such a massive corporate chain, who knows if they'll get the nod for that.  The availability of fish would add another star for me.  Otherwise, for a corporate burrito experience, it's satisfactory, nothing special.  The salsa bar is nice, really lets you crank up the heat on whatever you order.  So hit it up if you need a quick, and filling fix for around $10 or less.

Could do without the 'welcome to moe's' cheer, i can feel the employees cringe when they say it, it's pretty humiliating i think.  In fact, minus one star for that annoying shit.  When i get to the front of the line, just say hi, or welcome, or hey dude, how can i bust your gut today?  It just seems so robotic and dehumanizing because you know the manager will yell at them if they don't do it.  It's not a damn sushi bar for chrissakes.  They have some real shitheads at the corp. headquarters for making them do that.  Make a good burrito and let that do the talking.

NOT FREE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY!  I'm only adding this to my "free on your birthday list" to warn others from coming here to try and claim the deal.

I kinda hate to ding them for not participating in the same promo that the parent company does, but the *2 represents that.
Meh, I've experienced better, particularly at the Penn station location and Moe's in other cities.

Each one is an individual franchise, so it's up to the store owner to accept certain promos.

The penny pinching and nickel and diming was mentioned by other yelpers and I'd have to agree.  The first sign you see is http://www.yelp.com/biz_…

So much for rewarding customer loyalty.  The other sign next to it says you only get one order of chips and salsa for free.

I'm not sure what kind crap this location has to deal with to have policies like this in place, but who knows.  They do seem to really skimp on portions.

Oh and I didn't get a "welcome to moe's" when I walked in either.

I went to Yelp to look for a cheap place/free stuff to do with my boyfriend. I stumbled across this place under "free" and I'm glad I found it.

    1)10% Student discount
    2) Awesome selection of music
    3) Free refills on soda and chips/salsa
    4) A decent amount of food for the price you're paying
    5) Decently nice staff
    6) Not far from the 6 for being on the East Side

We left stuffed and happy! I'm glad I found Moe's.

To the reviewer from Florida, service is different in New York than it is in the slow, easy South, so your rating may be helpful for unaccustomed tourists, but is not relevant to New Yorkers who want a meal.

On a more relevant note, anyone looking for a hearty Tex-Mex meal at a great price will thoroughly enjoy Moe's. My only precaution is that you not come here if you don't enjoy the company of college students, as everyone from my dorm gets Moe's burritos.

This review is for the new Moe's Southwest Grill, on First Avenue between 21st and 22nd. The difference between the old and new is night and day.

I love Qdoba and Chipotle. Terrific casual dining, friendly staff, and quality food. Sois Moe's. one thing I love here is their chicken. It's solid white meat, as opposed to Qdoba's and Chipotle's dark. So much better too!

The place is bright and clean, with very comfortable seating. And they have the coolest soda fountain machines...designed by Pinafarina. You can literally mix any soda that you want on the way cool touchscreen.

Chips and salsa are included, not the paid addition from Chipotle or Qdoba. Plus they have about five different salsas for you to put on your chips. All taste great!

The staff and ownership are great. They stay right on top of things too. Oh, they also have brown rice!  The owner told me that delivery is on the agenda, and that will be a boost.

And a real plus is their high-speed Wi-Fi. It's really quick, as opposed to the pokey Starbucks broadband. I really appreciate a casual dining restaurant with Wi-Fi.

Moe's is a welcome addition, given their fresh flavorful food, dizzying selection of fountain drinks, and a staff that's enthusiastic and obviously cares.

    Chipotle who?

The Triple Lindy = Sweet heavenly burrito bliss!
My favorite "under 10" burrito place in the city by far. Fun atmosphere (as fun as a small burrito chain can be) and delicious/huge burritos.  There nachos are also awesome. I'm glad Moe Finlay made it to NY and welcome him with open arms and a empty belly.

No offense to the rest of you, but I thought this place was just MEH.

Nothing to write home about. I can't stand Qdoba and its clone, Chipotle, but I still think they are better than this place.

Taste is not worth the money or the calories. If you want to go Mexican, there are not too many great options in the city, but they are out there.

I like Moe's well enough. The ingredients are fresh and the burritos are ginormous. They also have those great Mexican sodas....name escaping me.

I love their hot sauce, too.

The staff is friendly and fast.

I've had better burritos but these are a solid choice.
