The Internet is a vast place full of
doge online retailers willing to sell you a cornucopia of the latest tech, gear, and
willy warmers
with one simple click. For those of us born in the dial-up days, the
holidays were the time to stumble upon and into the sickest stores,
wandering around slack-jawed and awe-eyed. Just 'cause everything is a
click-away doesn't mean we should up and forget the good ol'
brick-and-mortar that started it all. It's time to relive the glory days
of analog shopping and the childish enthusiasm that accompanied it!

Hodinkee
Shinola Store
Tribeca at 177 Franklin Street
The Vibe: Expertly crafted watches, bikes, and leather —
and the only way to get your hands on the beautiful array of handmade
goods that Shinola exclusively sells in their boutiques.
House Specialty: The watches are a triumph, but we’re dying to bomb down a hill on a
Bixby bicycle.

Saturdays NYC
Saturdays

The Vibe: Highly recommended for its board selection,
full-bodied coffee, and quality vibes, the cityside surf shop sells
boards, trunks, technical gear, and more.
House Specialty: San Diego surfer Jeff McCallumm broke out the
Keel Egg board in 2001 and it makes us hate winter but love the swells it brings.

-
Silver Lining
Silver Lining Opticians

1960, and they have thousands for you to try on.

Phosphorus Amber Tortoise Sunglasses.
-
Evolution
Evolution

Vibe: If it's dead, been taxidermied, fossilized, or
preserved in a jar of formaldehyde, you'll find it here. One of the most
macabre stores ever built.
House Specialty: Obviously you’ve got to get your hands on the
Tyrannosaurus Rex replica skull. It’ll end up into your home because life, ah, finds a way.
-
McIntosh
Stereo Exchange
Noho at 627 Broadway
Vibe: If it's high end audio, it'll be here. And if you ask nicely you can demo just about anything — including $300,000 speakers.

Vibe: For a surprisingly small fee you get access to
some of the most incredible cars ever built: McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche,
BMW — all there. And all awesome.
House Specialty: Oh god, how can we even choose from
this collection? Rumor has it their E30 M3 is one of the fastest on the
eastern seaboard, but you'll have to be a member before they'll lift the
hood. It makes us warm and tingly.
-
Mantiques Modern
Cheslea at 146 West 22nd Street
Vibe: The greatest collection of mantiques ever assembled under one roof. If it belongs in your bachelor pad, you'll find it here.
House Specialty: The Austrian whimsical pug dog humidifier from 1920. There are just so many good things-in-one with this gem. If only pugs were this useful in real life.
