SOME PEOPLE WILL SEE THIS AS AN ENDORSEMENT OF THE EDITORIAL SLANT OF AL JAZEERA ( IT ISN'T, I JUST WANT A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW EXPRESSED THAN WHAT I WOULD GET FROM AMERICAN NEWS SOURCES OR THE BBC--I FEEL THAT WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH ISRAEL AND GAZA RIGHT NOW IS A DEEPLY COMPLEX ISSUE THAT MIRRORS OTHER SIMILAR SITUATIONS ( THERE ARE NO EXACTLY SIMILAR SITUATIONS, BUT MY FIRST THOUGHT ABOUT PEOPLE BATTLING OVER TERRITORY AND HAVING A DEEP HISTORICAL ANTAGONISM TO EACH OTHER OF COURSE BRINGS US TO THE SITUATION OF NORTHERN IRELAND...HAPPILY, A GREAT DEAL OF PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE THERE AND IT GIVES ME HOPE FOR WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE REALM OF PALESTINE-- BUT THE ISRAELI/PALESTINIAN ISSUE ALSO BRINGS IN THE WHOLE QUESTION OF THE DIRECTION OF ISLAMIC POLITICS AND THOUGHT IN OUR TIME. BEING A WITNESS TO THE ATTACK OF SEPTEMBER 11 IN NEW YORK THAT CLAIMED SO MANY LIVES AND CONTINUES TO KILL AND SICKEN PEOPLE (SUCH AS FIREFIGHTERS AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS) I OF COURSE HAVE SOME PRETTY NEGATIVE FEELINGS ABOUT THE USE OF TERROR TACTICS BY ANYONE, JUST AS I DON'T ACCEPT THE IDEA WE HAVE TO USE TORTURE AS A WEAPON AGAINST TERROR. BUT ENOUGH COMMENTS FROM ME, I WILL LET YOU MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGMENTS ON WHAT YOU FIND HERE).
