FDNY Fire Officers Promoted
Hundreds of family and friends gathered on July 24 to celebrate one
of the happiest days on the Department’s calendar – fire promotions.
“Each of you carries on the strong tradition of leadership that has
been the hallmark of the FDNY for nearly 150 years,” Fire Commissioner
Daniel Nigro said during the ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center.
Among the promoted members were 55 captains, 50 lieutenants and one
marine pilot, representing 1,600 years of combined experience. They will
be assigned to units throughout the five boroughs.
“Promotion ceremonies are healthy for the Department,” Chief of
Department Edward Kilduff said. “Keep a constant mindset of readiness
and make the Department better and stronger than ever before.”
