There's no better way to celebrate the centennial of a Carnegie library
than with a renovation. On March 3, NYPL reopened its Washington Heights
Library, featuring expansive and light-filled spaces that include one
of the largest children's floors in NYPL's system. Users young and old
can once again enjoy their neighborhood library filled with thousands of
books and DVDs, cozy reading areas, free Wi-Fi, and 25 PCs, 16 laptops,
and 24 Mac computers. Need a reading recommendation? Check out the
beautiful shelf displays or ask a librarian.

BOOK List
Smart, strong women deserve books filled with smart, strong female
characters. Luckily, there are many books with protagonists who speak
out for justice, make courageous choices, and know that womanhood is
beautiful. That's why we've compiled a list of recommendations for the
woman who expects her novels to be as bold as she is. From Haitian short
fiction to literature of the Southern immigrant experience, these books
will make you believe in girl power. Browse the list >
