Renovated Washington Heights Library Reopens
The 100-year-old Washington Heights Library features expanded public space, modern amenities, and better accessibility.
There's no better way to celebrate the centennial of a Carnegie library than with a renovation. On March 3, NYPL reopened its Washington Heights Library, featuring expansive and light-filled spaces that include one of the largest children's floors in NYPL's system. Users young and old can once again enjoy their neighborhood library filled with thousands of books and DVDs, cozy reading areas, free Wi-Fi, and 25 PCs, 16 laptops, and 24 Mac computers. NYPL Launches Books at Noon

Starting this month, the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building will serve as the vibrant backdrop for Books at Noon, a brand-new series featuring popular and acclaimed authors. Completely free, Books at Noon will take place every Wednesday at 12 noon through May 7. Join us during your lunch hour under the center arch in historic Astor Hall for half-hour talks, Q&A, and book signings.

This annual video contest showcases young filmmakers who create movies that creatively compress the stories of Newbery Award-winning books into 90 seconds or less. Our special NYC screening will be hosted by film festival founder and children's book author James Kennedy and Printz Medal winner Libba Bray.
