There are a TON of reviews for this place-- saying it is good, so-so and bad!

Had to cut down number of reviews to be able to upload this!

Ok, I went back to Chinese Mirch after I was contacted by the owner and invited back.

I have to say, I was very impressed. I stuck to the menu items I knew were good namely

    - soups
    - fried okra
    - all of the things from the Manchurian Dry Stir Fry
    - the veggie dishes like Kung Pao Vegetables

Everything was spot on. Food came out fast and servers were super attentive. All the food was served hot and very spicy. Prices are still very reasonable. Wash it all down with a cold Kingfisher beer.

To make things even better, there was a dumpling/momo class going on downstairs that looked like loads of fun. I saw a group of 10 people learning how to make dumplings while chatting and drinking wine. Awesome.

This place used to be really good. The quality of food has definitely gone down over the past few years.

The chicken lollipop taste like wings and nothing like the way an indo-chinese app should taste like.

I recommend the lettuce wraps for an appetizer. The chicken manchurian and chicken chili dry (this is spicy) are both good. The friend rice and Hakka noodles go well with those dishes.

Worst service I have ever had in any restaurant in NYC. We had to wait almost an hour before we got our appetizers. The food was so-so. Nothing special at all. Actually I should have paid more attention to another review stating that the rice tasted like it wasn't even washed. Sooooo True. I got the brown rice and in all honesty it was horrible and still has left a bad taste in my mouth.

The waitress never apologized for our appetizers being late. After we finally got our food, she never even checked on us  once to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything. At the end, she just cleared our plates and brought the bill, without even asking if we wanted anything else! The whole experience was so surprising & unpleasant.

We actually called the manager to talk to him and he didn't even do anything for us. He just brought us some free desserts, which we really did not even want and didn't touch. No apology. The whole experience was ridiculous. Their treatment of the situation was really surprising. We were all just simply amazed at how bad the service and management handled the whole situation. I definitely do NOT recommend this place. I would suggest staying AWAY from this place. Service is terrible. Management is worst. Food is really just so-so.

I actually fee that "1" star is even too much for them. Unfortunately 0 star is not an option, but should definitely be for this place. HORRIBLE experience.

I went thr last wkend.. it wasn't extremely busy ... we were greeted in the front and then we went to upstairs and was seated and everyone of us got a menue..after that noone came to our table for more than 15minutes!!!..then we called ythem and ordered pur food..and the waiter didn't helped us explaining any menue ..though I know this type of desi Chinese food snd have been eating my whole life..but they should be able to show some interest in his job...he left without taking our order for drinks..!!!!! Then the food came after a lonngg wait..

we tried thukpass with chicken and lamb($9/$11)- which is a soup with angel hair typo noodles and dumplings/momos made with ur choice of protein..tasted like some warm water with ginger and dumplings without any tastes.. lolzz..
American chop suye..($12) with shrimp and vegetables but it didn't had any vegy other than onions and was really bad...
    Lo mein($12)

After that we didn't wanned to try any desert but they didn't even asked us if we want anything else or if everything was alright...and most of them had some sort of attitudes!!... I fo not know why but I can guess...!! Prolly because of my hoodie and sneakers..lolzz... its like some stero typical thoughts of people ..lolz but plz look at mark Zuckerberg..he always wrs hoodies.... n he is richy rich!!!

Anyways bad place for a good dinner..and the ambience wasn't good and ther ws no music..n it is really small and food was blunt and expensive compared to other desi places in the Lexington...!!!

I grew up on a fusion of Chinese and Indian / Pakistani cuisines.  Chinese Mirch delivers on that front in that it effectively combines the flavors of Chinese fare and the food of the Subcontinent.  The flavors are not complex; the food is simple and tasty.  My favorites are the Szechuan Fried Rice, the Five Spice Duck and the Chicken Tikka Baos (appetizer).

Yupp, 3 stars is probably a fair assessment of this place. It has so much more potential since indo-chinese CAN be so, so great.

I came with a group of friends and we ordered a variety of dishes. to be honest, nothing really stuck out. i got the chicken manchurian with gravy and would advise against it. the bhel was also not noteworthy. I didn't try the other dishes but others seemed content with their food choices.

Overall, i think there are better indo-chinese options in the city, but if you're in the area and starving and really craving mediocre indo-chinese, then come here.

The worst food - bhel was stale -  sichuan fried rice was not washed and tasted like the rice sack at Costco, the garlic shrimp sits in a fluorescent red sauce. The Hakka noodles were ok, just ok nothing special.

Will never return - Nanking in JC is much better.

They have half off their entire menu for the month of Nov 2013- that Is the only reason I returned.. On a regular Friday night- not my first choice. Lunch is better- nice portion, and great flavor. Kung Pao chicken with brown rice- very good if you like spicy! I also enjoyed the view of Lexington ave. the restaurant is on the 2nd floor, so it's nice and bright during the day--above street levels something different..

Apparently I was wrong, there's another restaurant in Queens that serves Indian style Chinese food in Elmhurst called Tangra Masala. I'm going to check it out.

I have to agree with other reviews that the food was just meh and so incredibly disappointing especially after hearing a friend's recommendation. The fried okra appetizer went by fast, definitely one of their better items. I ordered the Gobi Manchurian which was edible but not worth the trip up to NYC. Think: thick, breaded deep fried cauliflower with an overly sweet glaze.

Others at our table ordered the Coconut Curry Chicken and the Manchurian Lamb. The Manchurian Lamb was a hit (though overly fried like the Gobi Manchurian). However, two of my friends really disliked their curry dish, which is really hard to do if you are as much of a curry lover as many of us. Their drinks (I got the Zen Sangria) are pretty good though despite the mediocre food.

They even ran out of their Chicken Tikka Masala wonton appetizer! Not that I would expect it to be any good after eating the other variety of dishes we ordered, but that must have been a bad sign! Really hope this place improves the food part, since I love their drinks and atmosphere.

I had really high hopes for this place, but it was pretty disappointing. I'm a huge fan of asian fusion cuisine, but the good was pretty bad. The gobi manchurian is extremely tasteless and dry. It looks like they just bought it at a grocery store and served it on the table. The chicken is pretty rock-bottom. The Szechuan bhel was soggy and overall just bad.

Mediocre food. Horrible service. I hate to rate this a 2..but the place really needs to be aware.

We were a party of 8 having lunch. Place was not busy at all and that should have been a red flag.. But my coworker had nice experience in the past... So we stayed.

Anyway it took them over an hour to get out our orders. If it had been a busy time of day I would have understood. Comically, (we just had to laugh.. What can you do? ) the waiters kept bringing out the wrong food... They couldn't get any of our orders right (sigh) . Worse they couldn't bring the food out at once.. We had to wait order by order until our last member got food.

The food? Was so bland. Looks like cafeteria food. I kid you not. Served in metal cafeteria trays. Seriously did we wait an hour for this?

The lunch menu isn't expensive but really it's terribly mediocre food.

The service is terribly horrible.. The worse part. And the 18%tip added insult to injury. Not even a greeting or thank you from the staff . they should be embarrassed. Dear waitstaff, I hope you are reading this.. Take it seriously.

Food was not bad, but service was absolutely terrible.  We actually got into an altercation with the manager...Truth be told, I will probably come here again but this is mainly due to the lack of Indian-Chinese restaurants in this country.

Cool concept of Chinese-Indian fusion but not impressed by the execution. The decor is modern and the ambiance is casual and fun.

The Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower in spices) is delicious! The Hakka noodles were bland, but may be helpful to have around to balance out the rest of the meal if you can't handle too much spice. Besides the two mentioned above, generally I thought the dishes were a bit too sauced up and overpowering.

I checked in with yelp, which got me a free appertizer. I forgot to use it until the end...they got it for me to go! Awesome stuff. They even helped me charge my iphone at the front desk during my meal. I also loved the food!!! I am a Chinese so I ordered some Indian dish with lamb. I would go back to try more.

This place was pretty good! I had the kung pao chicken and my husband had the chili chicken. The kung pao wasn't what I expected, it was more like a ginger lemon chicken but it was still good

I was really disappointed with the food here the last time we were there. The paneer didn't seem fresh and the hakka noodles had no flavor. I wouldn't go back here again.

I'm giving it a 3 star because I think it's standard fare. Their food is very acceptable - not too great, not bad either. Pretty much the median quality for a good Indian Chinese restaurant.

The good things here, surprisingly, were the eggplant and paneer entree. The chilli chicken is standard, but it tasted fresh and well cooked. We didn't try the noodles, but have heard that it's fresh and light. The helpings are great for lunch - and the entrees are 50% off at lunch. Since they don't offer a lunch special, it seems like a fair price.

A fun visit to shake up the ol' lunch routine!

Meeting up with one of my best friends from Cali and upon his choice for an Indian (Desi) Chinese cuisine, i quickly leaped to my Yelp app and came upon this locale. After seeing Mixed Reviews, i was skeptical to visit.  BOY WAS I WRONG and THIS PLACE IS SUPERIOR TO MOST DESI FUSIONs I've tried all over the place.  From the moment our party of 4 walked into the restaurant to the time we left, we were treated with the utmost respect, attended to frequently, and treated to some of the best food around...

The restaurant was busy but were fortunate to be able to be seated in less than 3-4 minutes on their 2nd level. The venue is a simple cozy hotspot with ample room to make any evening a pleasant experience for anyone seeking some Desi-Chinese meal.  The perks of Yelp began as soon as I checked in and realized a check-in offer for a free appetizer (Szechwan Bhel).  The menu simply has too much to offer, hence how can one not be happy.  The prices are fair and the portions are more than generous.  We decided to try a few dishes and each one was extraordinary.  Menu items ordered included:
Appetizers: Sweet Corn Soup with Chicken, Crispy Okra, Szechwan Bhel (Free).
Main Entrees: Crispy Szechuan Lamb, Flaming Fish, American Chop Suey with Chicken, and Mixed Fried Rice, and Fun Chicken Fingers from the kids menu.
Drinks: Masala Coke & the unbelievable Virgin Lychee-tini.

Oh my God, this is one epic meal, well-worth the trip from Long Island to the city.  The food was simply amazing, flavorful and cooked to near perfection.  Flaming Fish was one meal i was intrigued by off the menu's description and wanted to check out for myself, for which my friends joked why.  Even though, in a bit of sweet sauce, the fish was crispy, flaky, perfectly seasoned and not to mention presented to the table surrounded by flames.  It was loved by all, well all of the food was loved.  The crispy okra was a nice touch to the vegetable that isn't given a lot of respect.  Crispy on the outside, yet soft inside, it really made me appreciate the lady finger in a new way.  A SURE MUST-HAVE are the Masala Coke & the Virgin Lychee-tini, both unique and definitely out of this world....

Overall, Chinese Mirch went above and beyond to make the evening an amazing experience. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and caring.  Their attention to all the details, food presentation as well as to their customer base, this place truly has won me over...!
