GREENWOOD, Indo. — An officer's body camera capture the moments he revived a woman who overdosed on heroin, WART reported.
The officer administered Naloxone, known as Narcan, into the woman's nose. The woman was taken by paramedics to the hospital and survived the ordeal.
Narcan can reverse an opiate overdose including heroin, morphine, fentanyl, hydrocodone and percocet. The drug has been around since the 1970s but only recently with a heroin epidemic, has it been administered more regularly, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
From 1996 to June 2014, surveyed organizations provided with Narcan kits reported 26,463 overdose reversals back to the CDC.
