Tavon Paul Scarbrough, 20, of the 500 block of Berger Road in Glendon is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault. He was sent to Northampton County Prison under $55,000 bail. According to court records: Police were called to Scarbrough's home Wednesday. Police said a man thereidentified only as Scarbrough's father, told authorities his son has a history of abusing heroin and when he woke up his son, he became "uncooperative and verbally abusive." Police said paramedic Christopher D. Fenner and EMT Stephanie Rowan were injured by Scarbrough. When the medics told Scarbrough to remove his hands from his pockets, he refused and they struggled with him to comply. During the struggle, police said Scarbrough elbowed Fenner in the nose and threw Rowan against a wall, injuring her back — Pamela Lehman       Tweet   Harrisburg woman wanted for trying to kill paramedic, domestic assault: police - Pennsylvania  Monday, November 30, 2015   By Wesley Robinson | wrobinson@pennlive.com  Harrisburg police are looking for a woman accused of domestic assault and attacking a first responder with a knife last night. Juanee D. Crawford is wanted for criminal attempted homicide after the incident at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hall Manor complex, according to a Harrisburg police news release. First responders arrived at an apartment in the complex and were attempting to treat a 68-year-old man who had been assaulted. Crawford confronted the paramedics with a knife in her hand and told first responders, "I'm going to kill you," police said. She then lunged at one of the paramedics stabbing him in the chest and slashing at him near the waist, according to the news release. The knife's blade did not penetrate the first responder's vest, which is reinforced by a metal trauma plate. Crawford's slash at the man's waist caused damage to the first responder's radio holder and belt, police said. The paramedic, who was uninjured, was able to fight Crawford off before Crawford fled the scene. Police arrived after the woman had left and issued the warrant for criminal attempted homicide. Harrisburg police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Dauphin County dispatches at 717-558-6900 and ask for a city detective. Dauphin County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for anyone with information on Crawford's whereabouts.       Tweet   Man whose parents died hours apart sues ambulance company, blames driver and paramedic - Minnesota  Monday, November 30, 2015   MADISON, Wis. — A man whose parents died within hours of each other has sued an ambulance company, alleging that the driver drove too fast and a paramedic failed to secure his mother as she rode along while taking her dying husband to hospice care. The Wisconsin State Journal newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/1MV5IsM ) that Bruce Huibregtse is seeking unspecified compensation in the 2012 deaths of his parents. The newspaper reported that the driver wasn't cited for traffic violations and that the owners of Ryan Brothers Ambulance couldn't be reached for comment. Don Huibregtse, a longtime publisher of two community newspapers, was dying of cancer and his wife, Laurel, planned to be by his side in his final moments. They were in an ambulance on Nov. 26, 2012 on their way to a hospice care facility when the emergency vehicle suddenly stopped and Laurel Huibregtse hit her head. She died the next day of her injuries, according to the suit filed in Dane County Circuit Court. The lawsuit alleges that the driver was going "at an unreasonable and excessive rate of speed" and carelessly failed to keep a safe distance from traffic, leading to the sudden stop. The suit says another EMT should have made sure Laurel Huibregtse was seated safely in the back of the ambulance. Because of the accident, Laurel Huibregtse "was unable to be present with her husband, Donald, in the last hours of his life and at the time of his death, as the two had previously planned and desired," the lawsuit states. Bruce Huibregtse said his father knew his wife wasn't there and repeatedly asked about her before his death. Laurel Huibregtse was taken to a hospital with a spinal cord injury that caused "significant and severe conscious pain and suffering before she ultimately died," according to the lawsuit. The Huibregtses had been married 62 years. Don Huibregtse published the Monona Community Herald and McFarland Community Life newspapers.       Tweet   Wrong-way driver hits car, ambulance on U.S. 59 at Bissonnet - Texas  Friday, November 27, 2015   HOUSTON - Houston police Thursday morning chased a wrong-way driver that crashed into a car and an ambulance on the Southwest Freeway near Bissonnet. According to investigators, other drivers called 911 when the car was seen heading south in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Houston police officers were able to catch up with the driver before seeing the car slam into the other vehicles. The driver of the car and the driver of the ambulance were taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. There was not a patient in the ambulance at the time of the crash. All lanes of U.S. 59 north were closed at Bissonnet for about an hour as the road was cleared.       Tweet   Driver sent to hospital after 3-vehicle accident involving ambulance in New Haven - Connecticut  Thursday, November 26, 2015   By Esteban L. Hernandez, New Haven Register NEW HAVEN >> A person was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a three-vehicle accident involving a Fire Department ambulance on Church Street near South Frontage Road. New Haven Fire Department crews on scene Wednesday said one of the drivers was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. Two cars and a Fire Department ambulance were involved, though it was not immediately clear how the accident took place. Police on the scene declined to comment. The ambulance sustained minor damage and one of the cars, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, was extensively damaged, while another vehicle had dents in its front bumper. One witness said the Jeep, which had been northeast bound on Church Street, hit a utility pole. The witness said the car’s operator appeared OK, but a bit shook up after the accident. Fire crews said they were called to the scene at about 12:50 p.m. A portion of Church Street between South Frontage Road and Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was closed Wednesday as emergency crews assessed the accident scene. Hernandez at 203-680-9901       Tweet   Car crashes into Ambulance on No. 7th - Montana  Wednesday, November 25, 2015   BOZEMAN - Emergency crews are cleaning up wreckage on No. 7th this afternoon after a car traveling southbound crossed over the median and ran right into an ambulance.The ambulance was not heading to an emergency at the time of the crash. The ambulance driver and another paramedic in the ambulance received minor injuries. Officials say the driver of the car that hit them seemed alert and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. We will continue to follow this story and will update if more information becomes available.         Tweet   Hoffman Estates man dies after vehicle crashes with ambulance in Streamwood - Illinois  Monday, November 23, 2015   A Hoffman Estates man died Sunday after an SUV he was driving crashed with ambulance that was transporting a patient in Streamwood, officials said. Four other people were injured in the crash, which happened about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and Tallgrass Court. Jitendra Shah, 64, was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. According to a news release from the Streamwood Police Department, Shah was driving a 2005 Honda CR-V south on Route 59 when he crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a private ambulance operated by Trace Ambulance Co. Shah, a 53-year-old passenger in his vehicle, and the three occupants of the ambulance were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where Shah died, according to the news release. His passenger was in serious condition, and three occupants of the ambulance suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the release. The incident remains under investigation. Weather and road conditions may have been a factor in the crash, police said.         Tweet   EMT Cited In Two-Vehicle Accident - Ohio  Monday, November 23, 2015   An ambulance struck a pickup truck at the corner of Ohio 13 and Possum Run Road around 3:45 p.m. Saturday while en route to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Hollie Cole was cited for failure to yield for a red light when the ambulance she was driving collided with a Dodge pickup truck that was heading south on Ohio 13. Trooper Jason Beck of the Mansfield post at the Ohio State Highway Patrol was the investigating officer on the scene. "At approximately 3:45, we received a phone call of a two - vehicle injury crash involving an ambulance here at Ohio 13 and Possum Run Road. Upon arrival, I found a black Dodge pickup truck in the median, also a white ambulance off to the side of State Route 13," Trooper Beck said. "After a crash investigation, we located the driver of the ambulance and the driver of the pickup truck. We also determined after witness statements that were taken from both the ambulance and the truck that the ambulance was northbound on State Route 13 in the left-hand lane. The pickup truck turned from Possum Run Road to make a left hand turn to head southbound on State Route 13 and was struck by the ambulance. "The ambulance did have it's lights and sirens activated, it was running 'hot' due to emergency situations of a passenger having a stroke inside the ambulance. They were running up to the hospital. The three occupants of the ambulance were all injured," Trooper Beck added. "Nothing was major, and nothing was life threatening, but they were taken to OhioHealth Mansfield to be checked out. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt." The passenger, who had suffered the stroke prior to the accident, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield by a second ambulance that was hailed to the scene.          Tweet   2 severely injured when ambulance, SUV crash in Streamwood - Illinois  Monday, November 23, 2015   Five people were injured — two of them severely — when an SUV collided with an ambulance that was carrying a patient Sunday afternoon in northwest suburban Streamwood. The crash happened about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Sutton Road (Route 59) and Tallgrass Court, according to a statement from the Streamwood Fire Department. Two people with “severe injuries” were pinned inside the Honda CRV and had to be extricated, fire officials said. The three people in the private ambulance suffered injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.       Tweet   One injured, one in custody after high-speed chase with stolen ambulance - North Dakota  Monday, November 23, 2015   Carrington, ND (NewsDakota.com) A high-speed police chase ended in a crash four miles south of Carrington on Friday afternoon. Timothy Blowers crashed the ambulance into a car pulled over on the side of the road. Blowers stole the ambulance and was on the the road for two hours, making his way from Trinity Hospital in Minot all the way to Carrington this afternoon. The chase reached over 90 mph, coming to an end after Blowers crashed into another car on Highway 52. During the chase the North Dakota Highway Patrol laid down stop spikes south of Carrington. Blowers tried swerving to avoid the spikes then drove into a ditch, hitting an SUV driven by Cole Zaderaka. He pulled over after seeing emergency lights and then moved to the ditch as the ambulance traveled toward him. He had to be extricated from the car and eventually airlifted to a hospital. Valley News Live spoke to a family member who tells me Zaderaka has a broken clavicle and several bruises but will be okay. After the crash, Blowers ran but was eventually captured. His motive for stealing the ambulance is still not known. "They were dropping off a patient at trinity ER and while they were inside the ER someone stole their ambulance while it was running out side," Dale Plessas with the Minot Police Department said. Minot Police were able to track Blowers with surveillance video from the hospital and by tracking a medic's cell phone that was still inside. Criminal charges are pending an investigation by the Foster County Sheriff's Department and Minot Police Department.         Tweet   Ambulance stolen from Minot hospital recovered after crash - North Dakota  Monday, November 23, 2015   CARRINGTON, N.D. — A man led law enforcement on a chase Friday while driving a stolen ambulance on U.S. Highway 52 south of Carrington, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.The ambulance drove into the ditch and hit Zaderaka’s vehicle on the driver side and the SUV rolled. After the ambulance vaulted, it came to a rest on its roof. The vehicle was stolen earlier Friday from Trinity Medical Center in Minot, the state patrol said in a statement. Timothy Blowers was driving the stolen ambulance south and was driving into the northbound lane while evading officials. Another driver, Cole Zaderaka, was traveling north on Highway 52 and pulled his vehicle off onto the side of the road and into the east ditch to avoid the ambulance. Zaderaka was taken to Trinity Medical Center for serious but non-life threatening injuries, and Blowers was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and is in custody.         Tweet   Heavy rain blamed in ambulance crash - St. Louis  Sunday, November 22, 2015   An O’Fallon EMS ambulance transporting a 16-year-old patient to a St. Louis hospital lost control and crashed Tuesday evening, Illinois State Police said. ISP Trooper Calvin Dye Jr. said troopers responded at 10:57 p.m. to Interstate 64 near the Interstate 255 interchange. He said the ambulance was westbound near mile marker 7 when it lost control and left the roadway, striking the median cables on the left. The patient and both paramedics on board the ambulance all were transported to area hospitals. Dye said weather may have been a factor in the crash, because it was raining heavily at the time. (WAVY) — Dispatchers say that an ambulance overturned along U.S. Route 17 northbound near Waste Management Way earlier this morning. State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya says that an ambulance with lights and sirens on was on it way to pick up a patient when a deer ran in front of the truck. The driver swerved to avoid hitting the deer, and ran off the road, causing the ambulance to overturn. The accident resulted in non-life threatening injuries. The scene of the accident is now clear, and all lanes of U.S. Route 17 northbound are open. Troopers are still investigating the crash. Stay with WAVY News 10 and WAVY.com for updates.       Tweet   5 Hurt In Detroit Ambulance Crash  Wednesday, November 18, 2015   DETROIT (WWJ) – Two emergency medical technicians were among those injured when an ambulance struck another vehicle and then a utility pole on Detroit’s west side. The accident happened at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Schaefer Hwy. and McNichols Rd., near DMC Sinai Grace Hospital. Power lines came down across the vehicle, which had a patient on board at the time of the crash. Two EMTs and a patient being transported in the ambulance, along with two people in the other car. One of the EMTs  injured was believed to have a broken wrist, according to officials talking to WWJ’s Jon Hewett at the scene. None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening. Detroit firefighters and DTE Energy crews were on the scene. “They’ve taken what remained of that broken pole, and obviously the light is out at the intersection, and there’s going to be some work here in regard to restoration of the electrical — in addition to getting the remnants of this accident off of the street,” Hewett reported at 12:30 p.m. It was not immediately known who was at fault for the crash which remains under investigations. The intersection was closed to traffic but has since reopened.         Tweet   Man punched ambulance attendant, fled in hospital scrubs - Illinois  Wednesday, November 18, 2015   By Bob Seidenberg man sought by Evanston and Skokie police on Saturday following an alleged attack on a private ambulance attendant has been located in Wisconsin in the custody of Milwaukee police, Evanston police said Monday. The department was notified that the man, identified as Jumal Lipscomb, of Milwaukee, was located in Lake Mills, Wis., Evanston police Cmndr. Joe Dugan, department spokesperson, said Monday. Lipscomb is currently facing unrelated charges, pending an investigation by the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, a Milwaukee police department spokesperson said Monday. Dugan said the incident with the ambulance attendant occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. on Saturday. The ambulance, owned by a private company, was transporting Lipscomb from a hospital in Skokie to Evanston Hospital. Police said that when the ambulance reached Gross Point Road and Central Street, Lipscomb, who was reportedly making suicidal threats, struck the ambulance attendant in the face. The attendant, 26, received an injury to her nose, said Dugan. Lipscomb, still wearing hospital scrubs, grabbed his personal belongings and fled out the back of the ambulance, heading southbound, Dugan said. Dugan said there is no direct evidence to link Lipscomb to several incidents on Saturday, including a robbery that occurred later in the day, but that due to the close proximity of the locations and time frame of the incidents detectives want to talk to him. At approximately 5:03 p.m., Dugan said, a resident was sitting in his vehicle in his driveway in the 2400 block of Crawford Avenue when a man fitting the description of Lipscomb, knocked on his vehicle window. The witness stated that when a police car pulled up the man quickly walked away eastbound on Colfax Street, Dugan said. Not long after, at 5:45 p.m., the department received a call of a robbery that had occurred in the 2400 block of Hastings Avenue, Dugan said. The victim, an 85-year-old woman, reported that she was unloading groceries from her vehicle parked in front of her residence, he said. She told police that she felt something hit the back of her head, Dugan said, knocking her down and the groceries out of her hand. She initially thought that, perhaps because of the wind, the trunk had shut on her, Dugan said. A short time later she realized that her purse, that was around her arm at the time, had been removed and was missing, he said. The victim was transported to Evanston Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, he said. Officers searched the area, recovering the victim's purse in the alley of the 2400 block of Hastings Avenue, Dugan said.
