Two EMTs from Jamaica Hospital in Queens who declared a woman dead when she was still alive were pulled from the 911 system Friday, the Daily News has learned.
Even though the duo doesn’t work for the city, the FDNY has “restricted their patient access” pending an investigation of Thursday’s incident, a source said.
“They can't work,” the source said.
The Jamaica Medical Center EMTs, identified by multiple sources as Brittany Fragal and Oren Silvers, were the first to respond to a Queens home Thursday after a bipolar woman shot herself.
They found Diana Rodriguez, 32, lying in a pool of blood inside a home on 115th St. near 103rd Ave. in Richmond Hill, sources said.
A distraught Rodriguez had been on the phone with her boyfriend, threatening to kill herself, when she placed a rifle to her head and pulled the trigger, sources said.
Fragala and Silvers couldn’t find a pulse, sources said.
Declaring her dead, they left the supposed corpse with NYPD officers from the 106th Precinct, who also responded to the two-story home.
As cops prepared the apartment for investigators, they heard gurgling noises and at least one heard wheezing coming from the woman.
The officers realized Rodriguez was alive and called the EMTs back, sources said.
They called 911 again and Rodriguez, clinging to life, arrived at Jamaica Hospital at 11:05 a.m., according to an FDNY official.
She later died, officials confirmed.
It’s standard policy for the FDNY to restrict EMTs from the 911 system when they are under investigation, sources said.

After they fire her she can find work as a model, so that's some good news.
I tend to think if the woman didn't shoot herself in the head, she's probably alive today. Let's blame EMS though.
