The Building for America’s Bravest Tour will visit H.J. Martin and Son locations in Green Bay and Neenah on Tuesday to present commemorative pieces of steel from the World Trade Center as a thank you for supporting custom home projects for injured service members.
Ray Thomas, a retired Fire Department of New York lieutenant, will present each H.J. Martin location with a special shadowbox that contains a piece of steel from the Ground Zero cleanup site. Thomas will also talk about his experiences responding to the World Trade Center on his off day on Sept. 11, 2001.
Thomas will be at H.J. Martin, 970 American Drive, in Neenah, at 10 a.m. and at H.J. Martin, 320 S. Military Ave., at 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
The shadowboxes will commemorate H.J. Martin’s contributions to the Building for America’s Bravest program. The program raises money to build custom-designed, specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured service members. H.J. Martin is part of a national carpet and flooring group that has donated flooring materials and installation services for 46 homes, a contribution worth $2.3 million.
