Paramedic Jumps Into Hudson River To Save Struggling Woman

A pair of FDNY paramedics were able to save a woman who fell into the Hudson River this morning.
Around 7:30 a.m., Niall O'Shaughnessy and Moses Nelson responded to a call about a woman in the water at Pier 25. She'd been thrown a life preserver by the Parks Department, but was still clearly struggling.

“As I got to her she was noticeably tired and she verbalized that she was too tired to hold on and she started to drift away from the life ring a little bit,” O’Shaughnessy told CBS New York. “I just made a quick decision and took off my boots, and just jumped in to grab her before she submerged underwater.”
O’Shaughnessy stayed with the woman until the FDNY's Marine Unit arrived at the scene. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Last July, O'Shaugnessy leapt into the tracks at the 49th Street subway station to save a drunken woman who'd fallen between two train cars.
