Wow. A book I now look forward to reading. Thomas Cooney, appointed to the FDNY in June 1959, retired in 1979 and kept going. He even returned on 9/11/01 to volunteer his time with the retirees operating at the WTC. He was diagnosed with the 1st 2 forms of 9/11 cancer which are in remission and is still here today to tell his story.
VERNON — Thomas Cooney had a remarkably varied career — from working as a New York City firefighter and New Jersey corrections officer to chauffeuring William F. Buckley.

  • Brian DeForest It just keeps getting worse. When the city gets back to the pre-Giuliani days, and the Deblasio fans can't walk around with the kiddies, they will complain that the NYPD is to easy on crime.
The arrest comes at the same time that the NYPD is on high alert, concerned about a possible ISIS-inspired terror attack in the United States this holiday weekend.

  • Juan Fernandez Really, convicted of a heroin deal and now you want to live in society as if you never did it. I feel bad for businesses and employers there.. That is a shame.. Some random person who really needs it stayed clear of trouble and worked hard won't get a job but a ex heroin dealer will? Don't get me wrong we all make mistakes but to enact a law like this is so one sided.. Was this mayor raised in the hood or something?
  • Christian Gonzalez DjGonzo This is great, hopefully a rapist will get hired as a teacher, or convicted bank robber as a teller, or drug dealer a cop... This mayor is destroying the city
