Two New EMS-Themed Shows to Air on ABC

ABC TV is set to premiere two new EMS-themed shows filmed in Boston. The first, Save My Life: Boston Trauma, is follows patients with serious, life-threatening injuries from the field into the hospital. Each episode begins with dispatch audio or video footage shot alongside Boston EMS crews and continues as the patient is treated in one of three area hospitals. The six-part series premieres Sunday, July 19, at 10 p.m. (EDT/PDT) on ABC stations. Here's the trailer:

The second series focuses solely on Boston EMS, and follows EMS crews as they answer calls throughout the city. Boston EMS premieres Saturday, July 25, at 10 p.m. on ABC. Roll footage:

From ABC: In Save My Life: Boston Trauma, viewers will get unparalleled access to top tier trauma teams inside the ERs and ORS of the nation’s most prestigious hospitals including the Boston Medical Center, Massachusetts General, and Brigham and Women’s. Lives that could be lost in lesser hands at less renowned medical centers are saved through feats of miraculous skill. The only certainty is that those who need care will receive the very best that medicine has to offer. This remarkable series tells many stories of heroism, poignancy, and unexpected humor. One minute a mother struggles with the news that her son has been critically wounded in a shooting, while in the next scene doctors become a captive audience as their patient launches into an impromptu rap.

In Boston EMS, viewers will ride along with the proud men and women of the Boston Emergency Services, one of America’s most seasoned team of first responders: the first step in the chain of trauma care. It was this same group that answered the desperate calls of runners and spectators two years ago when the bombs went off at the Boston Marathon. Treating the injured and ferrying the wounded to hospitals, the Boston EMS earned the gratitude of a shell-shocked and grief-stricken city with their cool-headed professionalism. In “Boston EMS” viewers will meet some of the heroes of that terrible day as they answer new calls and respond to a daily dose of trauma and mayhem.
