At 87, Edna Mitchell is the oldest EMT in Maine and has been an active volunteer with Liberty Ambulance for decades. "It is my honor to run with Edna," Liberty Fire Chief Bill Gillespie said this week. "People have a sense of relief to know that Edna is there. There's been a lot of times Liberty Ambulance wouldn't have rolled out the doors if it wasn't for Edna. She is amazing. She is a tough, tough woman."

Ind. Crews Use App to Request Medevac Choppers: With the app, registered users press a button to send a message to MedFlight's dispatch center asking for a helicopter. The app also alerts the local dispatch center that MedFlight has been called. MedFlight can use the app to find the exact longitude and latitude of the responder calling for help and send the helicopter directly to that spot while providing real-time updates on the helicopter's estimated arrival time. www.emsworld.com/14045868
