E3 2015
16 games we're desperate to see more of at E3

The countdown to E3 2015 is nearly over. We're just a weekend away from one of the year's biggest gaming spectacles, and all the new games it promises.
This year's Electronic Entertainment Expo is bursting with new games, thanks especially to the PS4 and Xbox One reaching a comfortable point in their lifecycle. We're finally seeing titles that have been in development since the consoles launched, which are more refined, exciting experiences.
We've picked through the list of what we know is going to be at E3, along with a healthy dose of the rumor mill, to pick games that we can't wait to see more of.
Fallout 4
Bethesda definitely teased the heck out of Fallout's return last week, but we don't know any details beyond what lots of thorough trailer re-watching has revealed. With Bethesda holding its very first press conference Sunday night -- an event scheduled to last an hour and a half, we know we're going to get an eyeful of that post-apocalyptic wasteland.IMAGE: BETHESDA SOFTWORKSDoom
But Bethesda's not done teasing. In May, the company released a trailer for a new entry in the Doom, which has been a long time in the making -- since 2008, in fact. We saw brief glimpses of the spooky Revenant monsters, but hopefully will see lots more at the same press event. Bethesda has already confirmed it won't have any hands-on opportunities of the game at this year's E3, so we know it's not close to be ready for fans.IMAGE: BETHESDA SOFTWORKSGears of War
The Xbox-exclusive cover-based shooter has made nary a next-gen peep since the Xbox One launched. Just last week, we heard from Rod Fergusson, head of the team working on the franchise, that we'd see more at E3. One can only hope Marcus Fenix gets plenty of love during the Xbox press conference Monday morning.IMAGE: MICROSOFT/BLACK TUSK STUDIOSJust Cause 3
Avalanche Games set the bar very high for its open-world Just Cause series. It's a ridiculous, over-the-top, fan-driven game that embraces irreverence in play. While we know Just Cause 3 will be in the same vein, we haven't seen much of what the game could possibly be. Let's hope for fireworks come E3.IMAGE: SQUARE ENIXXCOM 2
It seems like many companies are opting to reveal their games before E3, instead letting the big announcements fly during the lead up to the expo. 2K and Firaxis Games announced XCOM 2, the sequel to the 2012 reboot of the alien-battling strategy game. We know it's set not too far in the future, and XCOM must help wrest control of Earth from its new alien overlords. Sounds like the perfect set-up for a showdown.IMAGE: 2K GAMESStar Fox
Last year, Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto brought fan expectations through the roof by showing a small group of journalists a new iteration of Star Fox. The Wii U title had a couple of playable levels that relied heavily on motion controls and the GamePad for navigation. Nintendo has teased very little about the game since, but hopefully this will be the year more people get a broader hands on.IMAGE: NINTENDODeus Ex: Mankind Divided
After the amazing franchise rebirth that was Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it's going to be really exciting to see what's happening with Adam Jensen in its sequel. We've only seen a cinematic trailer for the game, but Square Enix has promised to show gameplay at its very first E3 press conference Tuesday morning.IMAGE: SQUARE ENIXDark Souls 3
The world cannot get enough of From Software's brand of punishment. Hot on the heels of a very successful launch for PS4-exclusive Bloodborne, we've heard leaked from several sources that Dark Souls 3 will be making an appearance. While it's not likely to be a console exclusive -- none of the Souls games are -- we might get our first glimpse of the game during Sony's press conference.IMAGE: NAMCO BANDAIDisney Infinity 3.0
Disney's take on the NFC toy phenomenon has drawn some very big franchises into one big melting pot of a game world in Disney Infinity. Now with Star Wars on the table, along with help from veteran game studios like Team Ninja and United Front, it will be very interesting to see how the series evolves. It's also supposed to touch on all three trilogies, including the upcoming Force Awakens this holiday. Who can say no to more toys?IMAGE: DISNEY INTERACTIVENeed for Speed
The well-known racing franchise is getting another "refresh" this year, according to a teaser from EA earlier this year. All we know is its from the same studio that brought us Need for Speed Rivals in 2013. We'll surely know more at EA's press conference Monday afternoon.IMAGE: EAOverkill's The Walking Dead
We know there are multiple gaming companies working with The Walking Dead license for gaming. While Telltale has done amazing things with its narrative-driven series, but now it's time to see what Overkill -- makers of the bank-heist shooter series Payday -- have in store. With the cult longtail success Payday 2 has had as a multiplayer game, let's hope we see the same magic brought to a zombie-infested America.IMAGE: 505 GAMESRise of the Tomb Raider
Since the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, we've seen explorer Lara Croft in a whole new light. Let's hope the follow-up to the critically and consumer-acclaimed action-adventure game will capture some of the danger and intrigue this New Lara has brought with her. Since the title has timed Xbox One exclusivity -- meaning it will be available on the Xbox One only for some time -- we can expect to see more at the Xbox presentation.IMAGE: SQUARE ENIXRainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft surprised everyone at its E3 press conference last year with very detailed first look of Rainbow Six Siege. The game has plenty of departures from the franchise, including a heavy focus on multiplayer. With a potential release date set for this year's holiday season, Ubisoft will definitely reveal more details on this title.IMAGE: UBISOFTBattleborn
K Games unique interpretation of a shooter/MOBA has been shown off a few times now, but we haven't gotten a real feel of how the game plays. It's five-on-five competitive matches will be the biggest draw, but it seems the title has lots of other game modes to show off as well, based on details released last week. With Gearbox's pedigree for making non-traditional shooters -- like its Borderlands franchise, it will be interesting to see this thing put through the paces of a demanding E3 audience.IMAGE: 2K GAMESThe Last Guardian
Hear us out here. The Last Guardian has been a most-anticipated game since it was shown at E3 2009. Was it just the power of Team Ico, or the fact the trailer contained some giant eagle-dog? Still, it's been a phantom for years since, almost reaching the same unfinished, rumored status of Half-Life 3. But if enough people keep saying "2015 is the year for Last Guardian," maybe it will happen. Maybe.IMAGE: SONYStar Wars Battlefront
Last, but hardly least, is EA's revival of the fan-favorite Star Wars multiplayer shooter. Some press got an extended look at Battlefront during the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim in April, but we're guaranteed to see much more at E3. With The Force Awakens only a few months from release, we're bound to be treated to more information on how the two are linked.IMAGE: EA GAMES
