France - French far right is at the 'gates of power', PM Valls warns
I
have really a big problem with the article calling the FN a far right
party. FN is a far left party at least in terms of the economy, we all
can agree on that. The best way to defeat the FN will be to let them
govern and maybe the french people will wake up to the catastrophy of
the left ideology taking to it's natural conclusion.
Europe - Ukraine ceasefire at risk amid shelling in Mariupol, Donetsk
The
fog has been lifted. There is no serious doubt left that Russia is "now
directly involved in the fighting" in Ukraine, as Geoffrey Pyatt, U.S.
Ambassador in Ukraine has said on Twitter."
Russian supplied tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and multiple rocket
launchers have been insufficient to defeat Ukraine' armed forces. So now
an increasing number of Russian troops are intervening directly in
fighting on Ukrainian territory. Russia has also sent its newest air
defense systems including the SA-22 into eastern Ukraine.
This is the step from proxy war to war. Obama, Cameron, Hollande and
especially Merkle got suckered in thinking they could get away with
taking baby steps in sanctioning Putin and leave him a diplomatic way
out. Merkle was played for a sucker but at least Russia was given a
chance.
Middle east - Israel appropriates large tracts of West Bank land
@alwaysforisrael
I think it's good to be able to discuss and debate in good humour and
without any animosity from either side. I have had other discussions of
the same type and i am trying to understand the jewish connection to the
land of israel. I know that there is continuous history, albeit in some
cases, with long breaks in occupation of israel. However, it seems to
me that the claim to israel as a state is a 19th / 20th century
necessity and prior to this arabs and jews lived in relative peace in
the area. your thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Middle east - Arrests and charges in Israeli teenagers' murder case
$60,000?
The car used in the kidnapping was stolen in central Israel.
Netanyahu said early on that he had evidence that Hamas leadership had
ordered the kidnappings and that Hamas would pay for the crime.
The Gaza war, which ended on August 26 after 50 days of fighting, killed
2,100 Palestinians, most of them civilians, 66 Israeli soldiers and six
civilians on the Israeli side, including a Thai migrant worker.
Israel rounded up hundreds of Hamas members in the West Bank in a mass
arrest operation, prompting an uptick in rocket fire from the Gaza
Strip, where Hamas is based, and setting the stage for an Israeli
operation in Gaza.
Unless Mr. Netanyahu comes forth immediately with his evidence of Hamas
senior leadership's involvement in the kidnapping of the 3 Israeli
students, he should be arrested for the murders of 2,100 Palestinians by
police authorities in the democracy of Israel.
Debate - Birth of a nation? Kurds emboldened by fight against IS militants
It
may be the birth of a nation, but it will also be the birth of another
conflict. Because if and when the ISIS threat is beaten back, the Kurds
will be in lands that previously belonged to Iraq and possibly Syria and
Turkey in the extreme. None of which they will give back easily, ergo a
new Middle eastern conflict
